Lesson Description: In today lesson the student will learn the definition of Additive Inverse, Addition
and Subtraction of Rational Numbers, Miscellaneous Ex# 1. Q#1-4
Concept: Additive Inverse, Addition and Subtraction of Rational Numbers.
Students’ Learning Outcomes: By the end of the session, students will be able to:
• Solve the problems on Rational Numbers by subtracting the given Rational Numbers.
• Find the additive inverse of as rational numbers.
• Define Equivalent Rational number.
• Compare two or more than two rational number.
Warm up: 05mins
 Explain the different types of Numbers sets.
 Define the numerator and denominator.
 Revise the addition and subtraction of rational numbers.
Procedure: 30mins
 Explain the types of numbers to the students in detail to the students.
 Define the rational numbers to the students as defined on page # 7.
 Subtract the given rational number from another rational number.
 Explain the student that subtraction of two rational numbers are possible only when they have the
same denominators.
 Solve and explain at least three parts of Q#2 of Miscellaneous Ex# 1.
 Explain the other parts of Q#3 in the similar manner.
 Now explain the other parts of Q#4 of the Miscellaneous Ex# 1
 Explain the method to find the L.C.M of different numbers.
 Explain the students that the rational numbers will be compared only if they have the same
denominators.
 Solve Q# 2 (ii &iv) of the Miscellaous Ex# 1 on page # 25
 Define the definition of set of whole numbers and Natural numbers to the students.
 Explain the difference between the numeral 0 and the number 0 to the students.
 Now explain the Addition and Subtraction of rational numbers to the students in detail to the
students.
 Explain in detail all the steps to the students.
 Write three or four problems of Subtraction of rational numbers on board and solve Q# 4 ofMisc
Ex# on page # 25
 Answer all the queries of the students.
 Explain each step-in detail to the students.
 Explain the standard form of rational number and how to reduce a rational number to its lowest
form.
 Ensure the involvement of the students in the lesson.
Advise the students to carefully look at the board instead of copying the sums.
Conclusion:
 After getting the understanding of the basic concepts and ideas prepare the students for group work
by dividing the class into 3-4 groups as per strength of the class and teacher’s convenience. Grouping
should be done in such a way that each group is having a range of mediocre, slow learners and bright
students.

Lesson Description: In today lesson the students, will able to Add and subtract two or more than two
rational numbers and solve the sums of Miscellaneous Ex1. (Q#5-6).
Concept: Addition and Subtraction of Rational numbers.
Students’ Learning Outcomes: By the end of the session, students will be able to:
• Perform the Operation of Addition and Subtraction of two or more than two rational numbers.
• Find the rational numbers between two Rational numbers.

 Explain the importance of Addition and Subtraction of two or more than two rational numbers.
 Write a Rational number on board and ask the students to write the denominator and numerator of
the fraction.

 In the similar manner solve the other parts of Q#5.
 Use the above method to solve the other parts of Q#6
 Explain the word problems for the addition and Subtraction of two or more than two rational
numbers and solve Q#4 & 6 of Mis Ex# 1
 Q#4 (iii) can be solved as
 In the similar manner ask the students to solve any two parts of Q#5 & Q# 7 of Ex # 1.3.
 Answer of the questions are as follows
 Explain the concept thoroughly while solving the sums step by step on the board.
 Ensure the involvement of the students in the lesson.
Advise the students to carefully look at the board instead of copying the sums.

 After formal greeting, ask the students if they have prepared well for their test or not.
 After taking their response, instruct them to remember to first draw margin lines, write day,
date & test.
 Prepare the whiteboard accordingly.
 Encourage them to first comprehend the questions and then write the answers.
 Motivate the students to do the test in neat handwriting.
 Instruct the students to review and edit the test after they complete it.
Procedure: 30 mins
