Introduction
This book is full of ideas to use in your Vampire: the Masquerade games. These ideas are arranged into
random tables because we thought that would be interesting, and it’s something that is common in a lot of RPGs but
not in White Wolf/Onyx Path games. This text takes some inspiration from some of the work being done in the OSR

and DIY D&D communities.
Part 1 focuses on character creation, and is useful for Storytellers and for players. There are ideas for
Malkavian derangements (of course), Nosferatu deformities and Ventrue feeding restrictions, among others. There are
also ideas for Allies and Contacts, and an alternate system for generating Merits and Flaws, as well as loads of ideas for

Sabbat pack names.
Part 2 focuses on city creation, and gives you options for who the Prince is, who is really in charge of the city,
as well as Primogen and members of the independent clans.
Part 3 includes some tables that you can use during the game to throw a twist into the story, including
hunting mishaps, random events in an alleyway, and creepy things you find in someone’s pockets. At the end, we have
plot hooks for various neighborhoods in your city for when you’re stuck for ideas.
Sometimes there were a few too many ideas for a table - in those cases, ideas that were cut are listed after, in
case you want to cross something out and replace it.

If nothing else, here are a couple thousand ideas for your Vampire characters and chronicles.
These ideas and options assume that it is around 2017 in the World of Darkness, but most of them don’t
demand specific technology to make sense, and so should be useful in a chronicle set in any modern time-period with
only small adjustments. When it says the Internet, dial it back to TV. When it says TV, dial it back to radio, as needed.

You get the idea.
Many of the tables will call for you to roll d100 and then divide by a number to get a result on the table, or just
use a random generator. Check your pocket - there is a supercomputer in there. You’ve got this.
Also, pronouns. We mostly use she/her, except when we don’t. Season to taste.

Part 1: Character Creation Tables

Allies
Of course this table can also be used for Retainers. These are intended to be capable allies who are the kinds of
mortals a vampire might accumulate.

1. A hard-boiled private investigator with the trench coat, revolver and drinking problem you’d expect
2. A soldier who retired from the Special Forces and continued as a mercenary
3. A thoroughly trained driver and manservant or maidservant with an aristocratic accent
4. A highly-skilled serial killer, very accustomed to hiding bodies and evading the police

5. A wealthy benefactor who can occasionally just swoop in and fix things with money, but always demands
something in return
6. A conspiracy theorist/apocalypse planner who can still put together a mean improvised explosive device
7. A connected network exec who has no problem tampering with a story to help out an old friend
8. A local politician who cares more about his climb to power than his constituents
9. An influential Bishop who still believes he can save a vampire’s soul
10. A medium who can see and hear the spirits of the dead, and it has driven him nearly mad

Less capable individually than Allies, each of these Contacts has direct access to a particular kind of valuable

1. A wildly popular club-girl who always knows where the next party is
2. A local anarchist organizer who has a wide network of disaffected youth
3. An influential child gang-member who can get into and out of places unseen
4. A social worker who is familiar with a lot of the homeless people in the area
5. A hacker who has backdoor access to a lot of people at city hall

6. A pimp, or madam, who runs a high-priced escort service


7. A doomsday prepper who obsessively listens to her police scanner and tracks the movements of law
enforcement
8. A drug-dealer to the rich and famous who overhears loads of gossip from celebrities and captains of industry
9. A police officer with access to the evidence lockers and arrest records, but no access to her ethics handbook
10. A former gang-member who is still connected to a lot of local crews

Merit Tables
Each time you roll for a Merit in a particular category, you must also roll for a Flaw in the same category. This
system replaces the points-based Merits and Flaws system that is present in V20 and earlier editions.
