EXAMPLES OF SUMMARIZING

Nuclear energy is not alone in producing dangerous waste. Lillington (2004) estimates that
nuclear energy, in the course of producing 1,000 megawatts (MWe) of electricity produces
annually about 30 tons of highly radioactive waste and about 800 tons of intermediate and
low-level waste. In contrast, a coal-burning plant producing the same quantity of electricity
would generate about 320,000 tons of coal ash, of which nearly 400 tons would be
hazardous waste such as mercury and vanadium, and at least 44,000 tons of sulphur dioxide.
So it can be seen that nuclear energy only produces a fraction of the dangerous wastes
emitted from coal-fired power stations, and in addition, does not produce greenhouse gases.

 Murray (2009) mentions that hazardous waste is not only produced by nuclear energy.
Wind energy and solar power are frequently presented as alternative energy sources to
fossil fuels. Both are freely available in many parts of the world and their use involves no C02
emissions. Sterrett (1994) claims that sufficient wind energy exists to displace approximately
eight billion barrels of oil. However, wind energy is unreliable, as wind turbines do not
function if the wind speed is too high or low. Similarly, solar power is only effective during
the day and is uneconomic in cool and cloudy climates. Neither of these sources currently
offers an efficient and reliable alternative to energy created from fossil fuels.

 Wind energy and solar power still have some drawbacks to be the alternative to fossil
fuels (Murray, 2009).
In recent years the price of oil and natural gas has risen sharply, and this trend seems likely
to continue in the future. Lillington (2004) suggests that the cost of purchasing fuel for
nuclear energy is likely to remain low compared to other energy sources; so it seems likely
that this cost advantage will become a significant factor in the comparison between nuclear
and other energy sources.

 The use of nuclear power in the future is more expectable since it is more economical
than oil and natural gas (Murray, 2009).
“A recent study has provided further support for the idea that biological factors influence
extraversion. In a paper published in the journal Social Cognitive and Affective
Neuroscience, researchers in Italy, the US and UK studied MRI scans from the Human
Connectome Project. They found a series of correlations between participants’ Five Factor
personality traits and brain structures. Specifically, the research revealed increased
cortical thickness amongst extraverts in the precuneus region of the brain (Riccelli et al.,
2017).”
 It has been supported by a recent study that extraversion is affected by heredity (Smith,
2017).
“Research also suggests that environmental factors could play a role in personality
development. Erik Noftle and Phillip Shaver (2006) found that the mother-child
relationship can affect extraversion levels. They investigated attachment styles - the type
of relationship formed between mother and child during the early stages of childhood
development. Noftle and Shaver reported that children who formed a secure attachment
with a parent exhibited higher levels of extraversion than those who formed other types
of attachment.”
 It has been also put forward by a research that development of a child is influenced by
nurture (Smith, 2017).
“Some people are, of course, more extraverted than others, and to different degrees. We
can understand extraversion as varying in extent on an introversionextraversion scale. A
person with a lower level of extraversion may be described as an introvert. Introverts feel
more comfortable when socialising in small groups, and with people who they are familiar
with. They may find demanding social gatherings to be draining, and be reluctant to draw
attention to themselves in groups.”
 Smith (2017) states that the extraversion level of a person may change according to
extraversion and introversion scale.
“In recent years, higher education institutions have started to give considerable amount of
significance to study abroad programs and the number of students who are encouraged to
join these has increased dramatically. In other words, with the increasing travel
opportunities, and developing telecommunication technologies, student exchange
programs providing first-hand experience with other cultures, have become indispensible
for them. In this sense, student exchange programs refer to formal educational programs
that occur outside the home country of participants aiming to enhance and enrich their
learning experiences. For example, numerous studies have documented the contributions
of such programs to the overall growth of university students. Significantly, international
mobility in higher education is considered as a powerful instrument in developing the
personalities of participants, including understanding own and other cultural values.
Similarly, researchers have indicated that living and learning in other countries help them
gain cross-cultural awareness. Moreover, this experience prepares students to adapt to
today’s society because interaction with local people is likely to develop new professional
competency to function effectively in their relationships in business life. Likewise, previous
studies have also found that such experiences enhance career development in today’s
borderless economy. For instance, the research focusing on college graduates majoring in
law, engineering, business, natural sciences, and foreign languages has suggested that
overseas experiences give them a competitive edge at the start of their professional
careers. To put differently, different stages of education abroad could provide additional
learning opportunities and expand students’ career possibilities. To live and succeed in this
interdependent world, adoption of new ways of thinking, understanding, and learning is
much easier with joining student exchange programs. Even if this is not the single way to
gain a global perspective, it is the most significant and effective one in terms of the
opportunities it offers”

 As stated by Muliterno (2014), student exchange programs have gained popularity

among students with the help of the raising importance demonstrated by the higher
education institutions since it provides students with many opportunities that enrich
their personal and future professional lives.
“The Internet has been promoted as a highly effective educational tool driving schools to
integrate Internet services among their classroom environments. However, one survey
reveals that 86% of responding teachers, librarians, and computer coordinators believe
that Internet usage by children does not improve performance; furthermore, they argued
that information on the Internet is too disorganized and unrelated to school curriculum to
help students and can even serve as a distraction from their academic studies. The
research found that 58% of students suffered from poor study habits, poor grades, or
failed school due to excessive Internet use. Increasingly, college administrators are
recognizing that they have put all their money in an educational tool that can easily be
abused. At Alfred University, a study investigated why normally successful students had
recently been dismissed. Surprisingly, its results showed that 43% of college students
failed school due to extensive patterns of late night logins as compared to those who
don’t. College counselors have argued that students are the most at-risk population to
develop an addiction to the Internet because of encouraged use encountered on campuses
as well as access made possible anytime day or night via computer labs, wired dorms, and
mobile Internet devices.”

 Jackson (2010) states that despite the fact that there is an increasing interest in the
Internet regarding education, most of the educators oppose the idea that it is helpful for
students’ improvement. Furthermore, the author claims that academic success of
students engaged with the Internet excessively is negatively affected due to several
distracters that the medium offers and the overuse of it is likely to cause addiction.
