The completed exercise
1. Open the exercise file:
L5_05_Interferences.rvt. This exercise file has the following file linked: ARCH_LINK.rvt.
2. To run an interference check, on the
Collaborate ribbon, in the Coordinate panel, expand the Interference Check button and click Run Interference Check.
3. In the Interference Check dialog, select
Current Project or a linked Revit model in each Categories from drop-down. For this example, select Current Project for each. Then on the left, select Electrical Equipment, Electrical Fixtures, Lighting Devices, and Lighting Fixtures. On the right, select Air Terminals, Duct Fittings, and Ducts. Then click OK.

4. Revit runs the interference check and shows the Interference Report dialog. Interferences can be selected or expanded. Each interference will show the two elements that are interfering. Select one and click Show to highlight it in the model.
5. With an element selected, click Selection
Box in the contextual ribbon to open the default 3D view to get a better view of the interference.
6. Using any combination of views, the
elements can be adjusted to resolve the interferences.
7. After resolving interferences, in the
Interference Report dialog, click Refresh and Revit will update the report.
8. The Interference Report dialog can also
be closed and then changes can be made to resolve interferences. To open the same report with the same settings, expand the Interference Check button and click Show Last Report.

9. Run another interference check. This time, select Current Project on the left along with the Electrical Equipment and Electrical Fixtures categories. On the right, select ARCH_LINK.rvt and the Walls category. Click OK to run the interference check.
10. In the Interference Report dialog, the
interferences between the selected categories appear. The interferences can also be exported for review outside of Revit.
