EXERCISE

Q : 1 DESCRIBE THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE STEP BY STEP/WITH EVERY STEP

CAPTURE AND PLACE IN THE IMAGE?
1. Un Plug the power cord at the back of the system unit and make
sure there is no any power to the system unit.

2. Unplug all the devices attached to the system unit devices may be
connected to the back side port and at the front of the system unit.

3. Uncover the system unit chassis from the right side of the system unit To do
this unscrew the two screws at the right top and right bottom of the back of the
system unit.

4. Carefully uncover the system unit chassis from the side that you Un screw.

5. Remove ATX power connector from motherboard gently press the not chat
the side of the cable and then pull it upwards

6. Remove all Molex and mini Molex power connectors to hard drive CD/DVD
Rom and floppy diskette drive

7. Remove the chassis fan and microprocessor fan power connectors

8. Remove all other power connectors attached to the motherboard

9. Remove all IDE cables attached to the devices and motherboard

10. Remove all SATA cables attached to the devices and motherboard

11. Remove all RAM modules. Gently press both the notches at the edges,
which will pop the RAM module up

12. Remove the power supply unit by unscrewing all the screws at back of the
chassis

13. Remove hard disk drive floppy drive and CD/DVD Drive

14. Remove all cables from front panel before removing note down the in
position of each of the cable connector so that you can correctly attach while
cabling the system unit

15. Remove CPU heat ink and fan

OMESH KUMAR HT-22 BSCS-21

16. Carefully remove the CPU from the socket

17. Remove the motherboard from the chassis by unscrewing all the screws on
the motherboard be careful and do not touch at the back side of the
motherboard the static charge contacts exposed at the back of the board

2 Capture the image of each of the internal components separately label it with
its name and describe its functionality briefly.
1. ATX POWER CONNECTOR:

ATX power connectors are designed to connect a computer’s power supply to

mother Board. They are constructed metal pins laid throughout a nylon matrix.
OMESH KUMAR HT-22 BSCS-21

a female types of ATX power connector extend from the ATX power supply to
plug into the motherboard
2. MOLEX AND MINI MOLEX:

Certain MOLEX and MINI MOLEX connector are used for providing power to
the motherboard, fans, floppy disk drive, CD/DVD drive, video card, some older
hard drive models, and more.
3. CHASSIS FAN OR MICROPROCESSOR FAN:

Fan connector is a small three or four pin connector located on the

motherboard. The fan will have one set of cables (bundled together) that will
connect on the motherboard. And they provided the small amount of power
they need to keep spinning and, in some cases, offer user control of fan speed
4. POWER CONNECTOR:
OMESH KUMAR HT-22 BSCS-21

Power connector are devices that allows an electrical current to pass

through it for the exclusive purpose of providing power to a device (not a data
stream, for example, or anything more complex)
5. IDE CABLES:

IDE Stand for (integrated drive electronics)is an electronic interface

standard that define the connection between a bus on a compute’s
motherboard and a computer disk storage devices.
6. SATA CABLES:

SATA data cables are used to connect hard disk to your computer’s mother
board. The SATA cables are also responsible for supplying power to the hard
disk so additional hard drive power cables may not be required.
7. RAM Modulus:
OMESH KUMAR HT-22 BSCS-21

A narrow printed circuit board that holds memory chips (RAM chips). The
common architecture for desktop computer in the dual In line memory
module(DIMM), which transfer 64 bits at a time .Because of space limitation
laptops are small outline DIMMS.
8. POWER SUPPLY UNIT:

Abbreviation as PS Or P/S, a power supply or PSU (power supply unit)is a

hardware component of a computer that supplies all other components with
power. It converts the alternating current (AC) from a wall socket of mains
electricity to a low voltage direct current (DC) to operate the motherboard.
9. HARD DISK DRIVE:
OMESH KUMAR HT-22 BSCS-21

The hard disk drive is the component that stores all the data on your computer
from files to software it’s the central storage bank for our digital lives.
10. CABLES:

These cables are intended to supply power to various different type of

hardware including hard drives SSDs, internal CD/DVD optical drives, fan RGB
strips and so on.
11. CPU HEAT SINK AND FAN:

A heat sink and fan is often used in modern computer system to keep the
processor cool. Without it the processor could easily overheat and become
damaged.
12. CPU:
OMESH KUMAR HT-22 BSCS-21

The central processing unit also called a processor it located inside a

computer case on the motherboard and its job to carry out the commands.
13. MOTHERBOARD:

The motherboard is the backbone that ties the computer’s component together
at one spot and allows them to talk to each other. Total motherboard
functionality is necessary for a computer to work well.

2. CABLE THE SYSTEM UNIT AND SPECIFI THE FOLLOWING:

A. Describe the entire procedure step by step/with every step
capture and place the image.
 Place in the motherboard in the chassis and tight in the screw
OMESH KUMAR HT-22 BSCS-21

 Place in the CPU in the socket carefully and the lock socket

 Attach CPU heat sink and fan over the CPU

 Insert all the cables in to front panel. See the specification below for
connections. Note, the specification may very according to the
motherboard you do have.

 Place in hard disk drive, floppy drive and CD/DVD drive in to the
chassis and tight in the screws
OMESH KUMAR HT-22 BSCS-21

 Place in the power supply unit by into the system unit and tight in the
screws.

 Carefully insert all RAM modulus into the RAM Slots. Gently press RAM
module downwards inserting the equal force on both side of RAM at
the same time until the notches are close

.
 Plug in all SATA connectors to the devices and motherboard
OMESH KUMAR HT-22 BSCS-21

 Plug all IDE connectors to the devices and motherboard

 Plug in ATX and other power connector in motherboard

 Plug in the chassis fan and microprocessor fan power connectors

 Plug in all the Molex and Mini-Molex power connectors connected to

hard drive, CD/DVD Rom and floppy diskette drive

 Cover the system unit chassis and tight in the screws

 Plug in all the peripheral devices to port at the back of the system unit
OMESH KUMAR HT-22 BSCS-21

 Plug the power cord at the back of the system unit and you are ready
to hit start button
