Apparatus& materials

1 piece of Cotton material ( Water


size) 3 beakers
1 piece of Silk material 6 100ml measuring
( size) cylinders
1 piece of Taffeta( size) 3 tweasers

Procedure :

1. Use a beaker to pour 90ml of water into one of the


measuring cylinders.
2. Use the tweaser to dip the piece of cotton into the
measuring cylinder and hold it into the water for 30 seconds.
3. Pour out the water into a dry measuring cylinder and record
the volume of water in the new measuring cylinder in the
table.
4. Repeat Steps 1, 2 and 3 with the silk and taffeta materials.
5. Subtract the final volume of water in the measuring
cylinder from the volume of water at the start of the
experiment. Record the answer in the table.
