Dams provide significant benefits to the entire community, but they also carry a
substantial potential for danger. As exemplified by the incident at the Situ
Gintung Dam, its collapse resulted in 100 fatalities and severe damage to 327
houses. Therefore, it is crucial to conduct an analysis of dam failure in every dam
to assess the potential disaster resulting from structural failures. The research
aims to determine the extent of potential flood inundation caused by dam collapse
and to evaluate the sensitivity of peak flood discharge resulting from dam failure
to various failure parameters.

Flood modeling simulation using HEC-RAS software. The analysis of average

daily maximum rainfall in the area is performed using the Polygon Thiessen
method. The frequency distribution test results that meet the criteria indicate the
Log Pearson Type III method. The design flood discharge that satisfies the
criteria based on the Creager graph is the Nakayasu Synthetic Unit Hydrograph
(SUH) method with a Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) of 2047.71 m3/s.
Subsequently, flood mapping due to dam failure is conducted using HEC-RAS
software.

The results of the flood mapping analysis indicate the areas that are at the highest
risk of flooding.
