 Defining the Problem. Problem Identification. In almost
every problem solving methodology the first step is defining or
identifying the problem. It is the most difficult and the most important of
all the steps. It involves diagnosing the situation so that the focus on the
real problem and not on its symptoms.
 A literature review is a comprehensive summary of previous research
on a topic. The literature review surveys scholarly articles, books, and
other sources relevant to a particular area of research.
The review should enumerate, describe, summarize, objectively evaluate
and clarify this previous research.
 In science, a hypothesis is an idea or explanation that you then test
through study and experimentation. Outside science, a theory or guess
can also be called a hypothesis. A hypothesis is something more than a
wild guess but less than a well-established theory. ... Anyone who uses
the word hypothesis is making a guess.
 Data Analysis is the process of systematically applying statistical and/or
logical techniques to describe and illustrate, condense and recap, and
evaluate data. ... Indeed, researchers generally analyze for patterns in
observations through the entire data collection phase (Savenye,
Robinson, 2004).
 Drawing conclusions refers to information that is implied or inferred.
This means that the information is never clearly stated. Writers often tell
you more than they say directly.
