ENTERS THE PHILIPPINE AREA OF
RESPONSIBILITY
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:

• 1. Determine if your location is in the path of tropical

cyclone given the latitude and longitude position.

Activity 2 Track the location of tropical cyclone or
typhoon as it moves from day to day.
MATERIALS
•Typhoon Map
•Pen
•Cartolina
•Typhoon Tracking Data
PROCEDURE
• Track the location of tropical cyclone or typhoon as it moves
from day to day.

• Use Typhoon Tracking data with the help of Latitude and

Longitude.

• Answer the Guide questions and write your answer in your

cartolina.
12 MINUTES ALLOTTED TIME
ANALYSIS
• From what body of water did Super Typhoon Yolanda originate?

• On what day did Super Typhoon Yolanda hit land?

• When did Yolanda enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility?

• When did Yolanda leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility?

• In what path did Yolanda move?

SUMMING IT UP

• Why is it important to track the typhoon?

• Tracing the pathway of the typhoon is

essential in determining which location will
be greatly affected
SUMMING IT UP
• How two imaginary lines helps you to locate the path
of the typhoon?

• Latitudes are imaginary lines parallel to equator (point of

distance from left to right). Longitudes are imaginary lines
from North pole to South Pole (point of distance from the
top to the bottom). Getting their coordinates helped us
students to locate the pathways of typhoon.
APPLICATION
• Why does PAGASA regularly monitors a tropical
cyclone when it is within the Philippine Area of
Responsibility?

• PAGASA needs to monitor its track that way they can

warn people that are in its track to be prepared for the
coming tropical cyclone before it landfalls and leaves
great danger to the people
