The Teatro Colón is an opera house in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires,

the capital of Argentina. Due to its size, acoustics and trajectory, it has come to
be considered one of the best opera theaters in the world. According to a
survey carried out by the acoustic expert Leo Beranek among leading
international opera and orchestra directors, the Teatro Colón has the room
with the best acoustics for opera and the second best for concerts in the
world.
It is a seasonal or stagione theater that renews its programming annually, not a
repertory theater. Likewise, it is a theater of its own production, which has
specialized workshops to make all the necessary elements for the staging of an
opera or ballet show.
It was built between 1888 and 1908, the same year that the place was
inaugurated. Then, between 2001 and 2010, it had its restoration period.
The main and most characteristic works performed in the place are opera,
classical dance and symphony concerts. Also, the place has tourist tours in
which the architecture is shown and the history of the place is told, how it was
built, when, by whom, etc. These tours usually last around 50 minutes.
Finally, this theater also has a Higher Institute of Art, which was created in
1960 with the aim of training professionals in lyrical, choreographic, musical -
symphonic and chamber- and experimental art.
