downtown, where five main city roads lead to. The building was completed in 1911 after 10
years of construction, by two French architects, Broyer and V. Harley, resembling the Opéra
Garnier de Paris.
Previously, the site was a big pond, so the construction met with many difficulties. Before
building a concrete foundation, nearly one metre thick, the pond was emptied and dredged,
then 30,000 hard bamboo stakes were placed on its bed.
3. The work, the peak of which is 34 meters above the ground, was carried out in a total area
of 2600 square meters with the 87-meter length and 30-meter width. Inside the opera house
are a large stage and a main audience room with a size of 24x24m, with many small rooms for
audience on the central floor. The middle staircase leads to a large Hall on the second floor.
The sub-staircase and corridors are located in both sides.
Main lobby is the first place to welcome visitors to the Opera House. It is paved with high
quality tiles imported from Italy, of which colors are matching with space and size of the
Lobby so it seems to be a big carpet. The chandeliers on the wall are plated with antique
copper. Meanwhile the chandeliers overhead is gold coated by new technology.
Mirror Room is the room to welcome senior officials of the Government and the heads of
State. It is the site where signing of important documents of the Government is taken place. It
is also the place where art auditorium performances, press conferences and other small
conferences are conducted. Flooring tiles are imported from Italy and are manually
implemented piece by piece under instructions of the Italian craftsmen.
There is a stage and an audience room of 24x24m inside the Opera House, with total 598 seats
on all three floors. The floor is paved with high quality tiles and fireproof carpeted. Seats are
designed in classic French style of the 19th century. The ceiling is painted by the French
artists. Chandeliers are golden plated according to new technology. The chandeliers on the
wall are made of copper in antique style
