FAQs for the Diagnostic Test

What data corruption does this diagnostic test deal with?

This diagnostic test deals with the following cases of data corruption for organizations:

 Gaps or overlaps in Organization Units table

 Gaps or overlaps in Organization Unit Classification table

 Mismatch in dates between Organization Units and Organization Units Translation tables

 Mismatch in dates between Organization Units and Organization Unit Classification tables

 Gaps or overlaps in Organization Information table

 Duplicate sequence numbers for multi row contexts in Organization Information table

 Legislation code is not null for division and department classifications

 Action occurrence ID not present in Per Action Occurrences table for Organization Units, Organization
Unit Classification, and Organization Information tables

What are the input parameters required for this diagnostic test?

The input parameters are organization ID, test number, and run mode.

Organization ID: This parameter specifies the organization ID or IDs for which the diagnostic test is run to detect
any corruptions. The user can enter a single organization ID (example: 123), a comma-separated list of IDs
(example: 123,456,789), or leave the parameter blank. If left blank, all organization IDs will be considered.

Test number: This parameter specifies the test number to be run to correct a particular type of corruption You can
enter the test number to run a specific test or All to run all tests. The following are the test numbers
corresponding to each test:

 1 - Legislation Code is not null for division and department classifications

 2 - Action occurrence ID not present in Per Action Occurrences table

 3 - Duplicate sequence numbers for multi row contexts in Organization Information table

 4 - Gaps or overlaps in Organization Information table

 5 - Gaps or overlaps, or date effective row mismatch in Organization Unit, Organization Unit Translation,
and Organization Unit Classification tables

 All - All tests

Run mode: The two options for this parameter are Validate and Commit. If the diagnostic test is run in Validate
mode, the changes made by the test will be rolled back at the end instead of being committed to the database. If
the diagnostic test is run in Commit mode, the changes made by the test will be committed to the database.

Does running this diagnostic test lead to any changes in data?

Yes, running this diagnostic test will result in data changes.

This diagnostic test makes changes in the following table records to resolve the corruption:

 HR_ALL_ORGANIZATION_UNITS_F

 HR_ORGANIZATION_UNITS_F_TL

 HR_ORG_UNIT_CLASSIFICATIONS_F

 HR_ORGANIZATION_INFORMATION_F

 PER_ACTION_OCCURRENCES

Before any existing data is modified, it will be saved to the PER_DIAG_BKP_ROWS backup table so that the original
data is not lost (similar to how the original data is backed up in a fix script).

The user should first try running the diagnostic test in Validate mode to verify the changes to the data and make
sure the changes were as per expectations (this can be verified from the messages generated by the diagnostic
test).

When it is verified that the changes were indeed the intended modifications, the user can run the diagnostic test
in Commit mode with the other parameters remaining unchanged.

How to check whether the corruptions are corrected after this test was run?

Firstly, the user must check the messages generated by the diagnostic test to confirm whether the changes have
been successfully completed. The user can then run the HCM WS Organizations Data Common Diagnostic Test –
Report diagnostic test for the organization ID or IDs for whom the changes were made. If the changes were made
successfully, the reported corruptions would be removed.
