Reducing operating costs

Many power companies have the
potential to cut costs and increase
availability.
A biomass power company was
experiencing discoloured turbine oil
and suspected excessive bearing
wear, requiring them to change the
oil every two years.
By changing its lubricant to Shell
Turbo T 68 and using the Shell
LubeAnalyst predictive maintenance
service, the company is saving a
reported $54,800 a year.
The company has doubled its oil-
drain interval to four years,
reducing maintenance costs and
increasing production.

Extending oil life

Power companies are cutting costs by extending oil life.
One company when presented with the benefits which could be achieved when
switching to Shell Mysella XL and using the Shell LubeAnalyst oil analysis service,
changed products. After switching to Shell Mysella XL, the company
was able to achieve significant improvements in oil-drain interval of between 30 and 74%.
far exceeded the previous drain intervals achieved with competitor oils, which enabled it to
extend filter life and reduce down time.
reported savings of over $84,000 a year.
