➢ Procedure / Resolution
The steps below are procedures to setup the FBxx-Series as MODBUS Master/Host via
Ethernet.
▪ Step 1 – Click Configure > Communications from the FBxConnect™ main menu.
▪ Step 2 – Select ▼ in the drop-down list at the top of the display and choose Comm_5
(ENET1) the communications port to configure. Modbus Master is defaulted as IP
connection owner.
▪ Step 3 - Make sure to put a check on the tick box for Modbus Master under Properties.
▪ Step 4 – Click the Modbus Master tab. Under the Options frame, do the following:
a. Select Modbus Transmission Code: TCP.
b. Select Byte Order: LSB.
▪ Step 5 – Click the Map Table Registers to setup the Device Parameter where you want to
land the values you are getting from the slave or from where you are getting the values
what will be written to the Slave. Remote Data Type is like the Conversion Code on
ROC800/FB107. Enter the Start and End Register that you will be using.
Note
In this example we will be writing values to the Modbus Slave and we are getting the
values from the AIs Live Value. To assign an object just drag and drop.
▪ Step 6 – Once done, click Save and close the Map Table Register window.
▪ Step 7 – From the Communications, Modbus Master tab (Refer to Figure 2), click Poll
Table Registers.
▪ Step 8 - Enter the RTU Address of the slave device, the Function Code (on this example
we’ll be using Set Multiple Register since we’re writing to the slave), enter the Slave
Register and Master Register (Start Register on our Map Table Register), and the number
of registers that we are polling. Click Save and close the window.
▪ Step 9 - Go back to the Modbus Master Tab (refer to Figure 2). You can now set the
following:
a. Starting Request Number is the line on Modbus Register Table where you want the
FloBoss to poll first.
b. Number of Requests is the number lines you wish to poll.
For example, you choose Starting Request = 3 and Number of Requests = 2, then from
line number 3 up to line Number 4 will be polled.
▪ Step 10 – Set Enable Continuous Polling = Enable. Select Start Modbus Poll = Start. Polling
will start immediately.

▪ Step 11 - Go back to the Poll Table Register (refer to Figure 4) to check if you will have a
Valid Response on Comm Status.
