ANSWER:
In the scenario provided, the supply chain of Campbell Soup Company is highlighted.
The business was started in 1869 by fruit trader Joseph Campbell and icebox maker
Abraham Anderson. Items including cream broccoli, double noodles, creamy, and
chicken noodle have been added to the product line. For the purpose of enhancing the
supply chain, the company has invested heavily in technology. They have developed an
electronic procurement solution that will help with total vendor transparency and a
quicker bid procedure. Close ERP system contact is also facilitated by e-procurement
technologies. Furthermore, they have integrated SAP demand planning tools like 5&OP,
which support in gathering forecast data and figuring out the best ways to maximize
earnings while utilizing limited raw materials. Campbell has also established a unique
strategy for buying its basic supplies.Raw materials are bought in bulk and at lower
prices as a result of their collective buying. All of these characteristics show a forward-
thinking supply chain deployment plan that adheres to the most stringent commercial
criteria for supply chain models. They also established an EDI interface, which offers
more data integration for invoicing, data sharing, including RFQs, and also aids in
ensuring that the correct data is shared without necessitating several data handshakes
and system interactions. The investments made in the supply chain demonstrate the
leadership's dedication to building a reliable supply chain system. The data and the 98%
forecast accuracy indicate that The Campbell Soup Company won't make any mistakes
or have any issues managing the ripple effect in the supply chain. Due to the market
sensitivity of the product, they may eventually run into problems with changing
consumer demand, necessitating the restructuring of their entire supply chain. It's
common for unanticipated changes to a well-established supply chain to result in
technology issues and inconsistent data exchange. They might also run into problems
with having enough stocks in a model like the VMI. This would ensure that their
customers get a continuous supply of goods without any interruptions. Most clients have
a problem with material shortage while dealing with rapid change. When adjusting to
unexpected changes in the supply chain, the majority of clients experience a material
shortage difficulty. Campbell can ensure that the supply reaches customers more
quickly by adopting a VMI model to refill the goods from their distribution centers to
customer premises or closer to the customer location. In order to shorten the timeframe
for order fulfillment, Campbell can also make use of their technical expertise to set up
EDI interfaces with significant customers. They currently use a hub-and-spoke strategy
with numerous DCs spread across various areas.
