Happy Cactus Crochet Poppy-1

A Crochet pattern by Happy Cactus Crochet
Materials:
1) 3.00 mm hook
(I use this hook to match my yarn (yarn which
recommends 4-5mm hooks)
2) Worsted Yarn - brown, beige, silver green,
black, white, light yellow, golden yellow, rose wine
pink, green.
3) Polyester fiberfill (toy stu ng)
4) 8 mm safety eyes
5) tapestry needle
6) fabric glue
*USE A HOOK SIZE SMALLER THAN

RECOMMENDED ON THE YARN*
This will help to reduce holes in the amigurumi.
Abbreviations: *This pattern uses US crochet terms*

ch = chain * This pattern uses US crochet terms *
sc = single crochet (US single crochet = UK double crochet)
st = stitch (US double crochet = UK treble crochet)
sl = slip

tog = together

Spine - (Neck support)
WITH BEIGE:
Rnd 1: ch 2, sc 6 in second chain from hook

Fasten o and weave in the ends.
You can use this piece later inside of the neck

for extra neck support.
EARS:
WITH BEIGE:

Eye embroidery:
Using tapestry needle and black yarn, sew a line

going over the eyes to the side of the eye.
Then, using white yarn, sew a line around the

bottom outside edge of the eyes.
Eyebrow embroidery:
Using tapestry needle and black yarn, sew

eyebrows above the eyes.
- Each line about 4 sts wide
- 2 - 3 rnds above the eye
Nose embroidery:
Using tapestry needle and cream beige yarn,

make a couple of sts of approx 3 sts wide.
- 1 rnd below the eyes.
ears:
Using tapestry needle and the tail end from the

ears, sew one on each side of the head (in line
with the eyes and about 5 sts back from the
eyes)
Weave in the ends.

Rnd 1: starting in the 2nd ch from the hook,

DRESS EMBROIDERY:
Using tapestry needle,

WITH ROSE WINE PINK:
- Sew verticals line in the golden yellow

edge of the skirt,
- all along the edge, the lines 3 sts apart
from each other.
Weave in the ends.
Using tapestry needle,

WITH GREEN:
- Sew 2 lines to make a V shape under each

of the pink lines. (see photos → )
Weave in the ends.

SKIRT STRAPS:
WITH GOLDEN YELLOW:

Pick up the 2nd st along the top edge of the skirt
(right side of the top edge)
- Ch 16
Starting in the 2nd ch from the hook:
- Sc in each st along the ch
- Sl st in the next st along the top of the
skirt
WITH GOLDEN YELLOW:

Pick up the 3rd st along the other side of the top
edge of the skirt
(left side of the top edge)
- Ch 16
- Sc in each st along the ch
- Sl st in the next st along the top of the
skirt

Wrap the skirt around the waist of the doll with
the seam at the back of the body.
- Using tapestry needle and the golden

yellow end front he skirt, sew up the
golden part of the seam.
Color change to light yellow to sew up the
light yellow part of the seam.
- Then sew around the top of the skirt into

the body of the doll, to secure it in place.
Weave in the ends,
- Pull the straps over the shoulders of the

doll and pin in place at the front of the
skirt.
- Using tapestry needle and brown yarn,

make a couple of sts into the end of each
strap to secure in place.
HAIR:
Hair wig part 1:
WITH BROWN:
(magic circle) (6)
Rnd 4: (sc in next 2 sts, sc 2 in next st) along (24)

HAIR WIG SHOULD BE APPLIED WRONG SIDE UP.
Pin the hair wig part 1 onto the top of the head
● Rnd 1 of the hair wig (part 1) should be on

the centre of the top of the head.
● The 4 bangs at the front of the forehead

(the 4 bangs are the only pieces that don't
get glued down)
● The 2 shortest hair pieces over the top of

the ears.
● Pin down each hair strand side by side

around the head.
Remove one hair strand at a time, apply fabric

glue to the hair strand, and pin it back in place
on the head.
- Keep the hair pinned in place until the
glue is completely dry!
hair wig part 2,
- Sew around the base of the bun to the

top of the head,
before closing it, insert some stu ng into
the bun #
- Pull the yarn through to the top of the

bun.
- Pull each hair curl up to the top of the

hair bun,
and sew into the end of each hair curl.
- Secure them to the top of the hair bun by
sewing into the middle.
Weave in the ends.
HAIR BAND:

Ch 54
Rnd 1: starting in the 3rd ch from the hook,

hdc in each st along (52)

BOW:

Ch 17
Rnd 1: starting in the 3rd ch from the hook,

hdc in each st along (15)
Rnd 2 - 3: ch 2 & turn,
Hdc in each st along (15)
Using rose wine pink yarn, wrap the yarn tightly

around the middle of the rectangle to make the
bow.
Wrap the headband around the head with the 2

ends at the top of the head.
Pin in place.

headband, sew around to secure in place.
Apply fabric glue to the bottom edge of the bow

and pin in place on top of the doll's head until
the glue is completely dry.
