Test voltage is displayed on wide view moving coil type of panel meter. Reading accuracy is within + 5% TRIPPING CURRENT LEVELS: Oto 30mA in 214/217 and 215/218. Oto 100 mAin 214/219. Tripping current levels can be set from 0 to maximum by front panel control. STANDARD ACCESSORIES : Instruction manual, SAFETY PRECAUTIONS: High voltages generated in high voltage breakdowm testers are hazardous, Every necessary precaution should be taken to avoid hazards. Do not by pass the safety features provided in the tester. Do not modify high voltage probe and the tester. Do not open covers. Do not attempt sorvicing of the tector. Koop the operater end other ‘material away from the high voltage tip of the safety probe and from the items under test. Make all necessary arrancemants to ensure safety. Always ensure the proper earth connection to the tester. ‘TEST PROCEDURE: 1, Disconnect supply from the test insulation whose breakdown flash over is to be tested.2. Keep safety probe of the tester in safe place and ensure high voltage tip is away from living creatures and all other material on the work table. 3. Bring variac to minimum position and tripping level control to maximum position 4. Connect 3 pin plug of the tester to properly earthed 3 pin outlet of mains supply of 230 volt AC, 50/60 Hertz. 5. Turn on power supply of the tester. Check HT OFF indication glows, HT ON indication is off and both meters are at near zero positions. 6. Press push button switch located on the safety probe. Check HT OFF indication is off, HT ON indication giows and audio buzzer sounds. HT ON indication and audio buzzer sound are warnings for presence of high voltace. 7. increase variac setting slowly until reading of KV meter equals the value of required test voltage. 8. Touch black ground probe of the tester to one end of the insulation under test and tip of the safety probe to the other end of the insulation under test. Press push button switch located on the safety probe for 1 minute or until sound of audie buzzer goes off. If audio buzzer sound remains of for 1 minute, the insulation under test has passed the breakdown test. If audio buzzer sound goes off before 1 minute, the insulation under test has failed the breakdown test. To test another insulation, touch the black ground probe of the tester to one end of the insulation and tip of the safety probe to the other end of the insulation . Release the push button switch of the safety prohe mamentarily and prass the came again for 1 minuto or until the audio sound goes off. 9. After all of the test pieces are tested or the testing is halted, turn off the mains supply of the tester. Remove 3 pin plug of the tester from the mains supply and bring variac to minimum location. This step is necessary to avoid hazards. PRECAUTIONS: High voltage breakdown test is destructive test. The insulation under testis damaged during hraaledown eanditian Tha failed insiilation under test should be scrapped and should not be used again, ‘TRIPPING LEVEL ADJUSTMENT: Most of the products are toster with maximum valve of tripping level as per procedure mentioned atove. However for the devices for which lower tripping can be set as per the following procedure. 1. Place tripping level in maximum posit 2. Place variac in minimum position. 3. Sart black ground probe and the tip of the safely probe. 4, Ture on the power of the tester. '5. Press push button switch of the safety probe. 6. Increase variac setting very slowly unt reading on mA meter equals the desired tripping level. 7. Decrease setting of tripping level very slowly until audio buzzer sound goes of. 8. Release push button switch on the safety probe and remove short of black ground probe and the tip, of the safety probe. 0. Proce puch button of the safety probe increase setting and inc:ease variae setting until reading on KV meter reaches the required test voltage. ‘The tester Is now ready for testing trom step number 8 onwards mentioned in TEST PROCEDURE above.
