CURRICULARIST

a PROFESSIONAL WHO IS A CURRICULUM SPECIALIST ( Hayes, 1991; Ornstien &


Hunkins, 2004; Hewitt, 2006)

A person who is involved in curriculum knowing, writing, planning, implementing,


evaluating, innovating and initiating.

TEACHER AS A KNOWER OF CURRICULUM

 The teachers as the learners starts with knowing about the curriculum, the
subject matter or the content.

TEACHER AS WRITER OF CURRICULUM

 A classroom teacher takes record of knowledge concepts, subject matter of


content.

TEACHERS AS PLANNER OF CURRICULUM

 The teacher makes yearly, monthly, or daily plan (lesson plan) of the curriculum.

TEACHER AS INITIATOR OF CURRICULUM

 A transformative teacher will never hesitate to try something novel and relevant.

 The teacher is obliged to implement the new curriculum recommended by


educational agencies.

TEACHER AS INNOVATOR OF CURRICULUM

 An excellent teacher is creative and innovator of the curriculum.

TEACHER AS IMPLEMENTOR OF CURRICULUM

 The teacher gives life to the curriculum by teaching, guiding and facilitating the
learning in the teaching-learning process.

TEACHER AS EVALUATOR OF CURRICULUM

 The teacher assesses the learners whether the learning outcomes are achieved
or not.

SUMMARY

 Those are the seven roles which a responsible teacher does in the classroom
everyday

 Doing those multi-faceted work qualifies a teacher to be a CURRICULARIST

 CURRICULARIST is a teacher who is involved in curriculum knowing, writing,


planning, implementing, evaluating, innovating and initiating.
