PHYSICAL EDUCATION LESSON

BADMINTON
-Badminton is played as a singles or doubles game with one or two players on a side
-Badminton is directly derived from the word POONA which was played by British army officers stationed in India
in the 1860’s.
*PRAKASH PADUKONE- father of Badminton.
*BWF or Badminton World Federation- the world governing body of the sport and it was formed in 1934.

BASIC RULES OF BADMINTON
1. A match shall consist of the best of 3 games.
2. A game shall be won by the side which first scores 21 points.
3. If the score ties at 20, deuce shall be applied.
4. The side winning the set shall serve first in the next game
5. Service is done diagonally.
6. Even scores (Right) odd scores (Left)
7. Service should be done below the server’s waist
8. Do not lift any of your legs during service.
9. A score is earned when a fault has been made.
