Pathogenic Microorganisms
These organisms
cause harm to
humans in one or
the other way.
Monkeypox
● It is a virus similar to smallpox but comparatively less deadly.
● It is not yet known how was this virus originated, but scientists suspect African
rodents and monkeys might have transmitted the disease to humans.
● Symptoms of Monkeypox: headache and body aches, rashes, fatigue and
swollen lymph nodes.
● How does it spread?
● Human to Human transition:
● Occurs through direct contact with body fluids, indirect contact with
contaminated clothing or bedding.
● Animal to Human transition: A bite or scratch
● Is there any cure?
● Currently there isn’t any vaccine or cure for the Monkeypox, but antiviral

STAT3 Dominant Negative Virus
● STAT3DN also know as hyper-IgE syndrome ( AD-HIES ) or Job’s Syndrome
● Symptoms :
○ High levels of immunoglobulin E ( IgE )
○ Recurrent skin and lung infections
○ Recurrent bone fractures
○ Unusually flexible joints
○ Inflamed skin
● STAT3DN occurs from mutations in the gene that encodes a signaling protein called
STAT3
● Effective treatments for this are continuous antibiotics, antifungals as needed and
carefully monitoring for infection which can be severe even when symptoms don’t
appear
● Antibody replacement therapy also works and antiseptics are applied to improve
eczema and skin infections
