DEFINITION OF TERMS:

FOLKLORE: traditional beliefs, stories, customs and legends.

FOLK LITERATURE:

 FOLK SPEECH: refers to the dialect, or style of speaking, unique to people living
within a geographic area.

 FOLK SONG: traditional or composed song typically characterized by stanzaic form,


refrain, and simplicity of melody.

 FOLK NARRATIVES: reflect on amalgamation of the traditions common to a


particular culture, subculture or group through storytelling.

MYTH: symbolic narrative that ostensibly relates actual events and that is especially
associated with religious belief.
