PHILIPPINE GODS AND GODDESSES:


1. Mayari- one-eyed, beautiful goddess and ruler of moon, daughter of Bathala.
2. Tala- goddess of the stars; daughter of Bathala
3. Amihan- According to Tagalog folklore, Amihan is the first creature to inhabit the
universe, along with the gods called Bathala and Aman Sinaya. Amihan is a
personification of the Northeast Wind.
4. Bathala- the supreme god of the tagalogs; creator of man and earth; Bathalang
Maykapal. During Spanish Era—he was referred to the Christian God.
5. Aman Sinaya- god of the sea, fishing, and seafaring
6. Aswang- is the Bicolano god of evil, and the brother and enemy of Gugurang.
7. Apo Laki- god of the sun and was chiefly the patron of warriors; the son of Anagolay and
Dumakulem.
8. Agui- god of fire; brother of Agwe
9. Agwe- god of waters
10. Amanikable- god of the sea; the ill-tempered god of the sea because among the first
generation gods, he was never married after his love was spurned by a beautiful mortal

maiden, Maganda. He swore vengeance against humans by sending turbulent waves


and horrible tempests in order to wreck boats and to drown men.
11. Analogay- goddess of lost things; only offspring of Lakapati and Mapulon. She was
married to Dumakulem.
12. Anitun Tabu- fickle-minded goddess of wind and rain; daughter of Idiyanale and
Dumangan and the sister of Dumakulem.
13. Aspene- the shell goddess
14. Bagobo- god of war
15. Bayoa- god of pacts
16. Dal’lang- goddess of beauty
17. Dayea- goddess of secrets
18. Deltise- god of mambabarangs
19. Detinos- god of evil; enemy of Bathala
20. Diyan Masalanta- goddess of love, conception and childbirth and the protector of
lovers. She’s the youngest of all the deities; daughter of Anagolay and Dumakulem. After
conversion of the natives to Christianity during the Spanish Era; she was then referred
as Maria Makiling.
21. Dihas- goddess of medical herbs
22. Dimangan- goddess of good harvest; married to Idiyanale and had two offspring.
23. Dumakulem- the strong, agile guardian of mountains and the son of Idiyanale and
Dumangan; married to Anagolay.
24. Habagat- god of winds
25. Halmista- god of magic
26. Hanan- goddess of morning; one of the three daughters of Bathala by a mortal woman.
27. Hayo- god of the sea and the ocean
28. Hukloban- goddess of death; could change herself into form she desired; could kill
someone by simply raising her hand and could easily healed. Her name literally means
“crone” or “hag”.
29. Idiyanale- goddess of labor and good deeds; married to Dimangan and had two
offspring.
30. Kalinga- god of thunder
31. Kapalaran- not god but he has a power to change destiny at his will.
32. Kidul- god of earthquakes
33. Kilubansa- god of healing
34. Lakambuwi- god of gluttony, food and eating.
35. Lakapati- deity of fertility and cultivated fields; most understanding and kind of all
deities. He’s known as a giver of food&prosperity.
36. Lalahon- goddess of volcanoes
37. Linga- god of disease, although unlike Manggagaway, he cures them.
38. Maguayen- ferryboat god, ferries souls to hell
39. Malyari- god of strength and bravery

40. Mangaragan- goddess of war


41. Manggagaway- goddess of disease; one of Sitan’s helper. She’s a false healer.
42. Mangkukulam- male agent of Sitan; he was to emit fire at night and when there was a
bad weather. His name remains today as WITCH.
43. Manisilat- god of broken families; tasked to destroy and break every happy and united
family.
44. Mapulon- god of seasons and husband of Lakapati of whom they had a daughter.
45. Oghep- god of mountains and hills
46. Pamahres- god of knowledge
47. Pasipo- god of music
48. Pughe- the king of the dwendes of the North.
49. Puncho- god of trees
50. Sidapa- god of death
51. Siginaguran- god of hell
52. Sirehna- goddess of water
53. Sitan- god of afterlife, guardian of the realms of the spirits; counterpart of Satan
54. Sodop- goddess of gold
55. Somilge- goddess of magic, queen of witchery
