Logging Out: An in-depth analysis on student’s academic behavior

throughout the moderate resumption of face-to-face classes

OBJECTIVES

This study aims to observe and understand the behavioral patterns of students
while undergoing the modal transitions of learning.

Correspondingly, the study intends to uncover any possible effects of the said
circumstance to the students. As well as, unearth any factors that could further the
study.

INTRODUCTION

As the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) instructs the return of face-

to-face classes in the country, most students were either in awe or in dismay of such
transition. Although the sound of face-to-face classes exhilarates the students, it is
apparent that a relevant number of them would find it difficult to adapt (Firman et
al., 2023).

Since online learning lasted for several years (and is still current in hybrid
modes of learning), several online learning induced factors have affected students’
habits and attention. It is observable that new existing habits were developed by
students in such period, and is expected that these habits would be brought to
physical classes. Subsequently, have a considerable effect towards the students’
academic behavior and performance (Olleras et al., 2022; Firman et al., 2023).

The isolation and the less sociable life amidst the pandemic, clearly triggered
social difficulties which disables an active engagement in face-to-face learning
(Firman et al., 2023.). Eventually, there would be less collaborative learning and
lower interactions from students who are products of online learning (Dumford and
Miller, 2018).

The experience in online learning enables an increased preparedness to adopt

to hybrid mode of learning (Nikolopoulou, 2022). Rather than a direct full blast
transition, a balance face-to-face and online learning should be considered first
(Stoian et al., 2022) in order to deliver a less overwhelming impact on students.
