Knife crime is like a parasite swiftly growing through our society. Where
are the parents, where are the police, where are the politicians.

39,818 knife offences occurred in the 12 months ending in September
2018 this was increased by two thirds from the low point of the year
ending in March 2014. This shows that knife crime is drastically growing
which is a very worrying issue; the demagogue is taking no
responsibility.

Harry:
In 2013/14 0.9% of 10-15 year olds were revealed to be part of a street
gang this implies that approximately 30,000 children are actively
associated with a street gang. Most of these children will carry around a
weapon.

Shaheer:
Knife crime is linked into gangs and this is a way of dividing, it is a way
of life, do you really want to live that way? Past generations have had
the liberty to go out and not be afraid of the people around them. We
need to feel safe in our own streets. How long will it take someone to
stand up and stop this chaotic crisis.

Lucas:
60% of people who carry around weapons have their weapons used
against them this means that a weapon doesn’t really help with self
defence. And did you know that Kent, our county, has the of the highest
rates of knife crime.

Joshua:
3.Ways to stop it
‘Even young people from secure homes can carry around knives,
imagine what it’s like for those who don’t feel safe at home.’ This was a
quote from a youth worker, this shows how easily these young people
can get influenced by gang culture. Most of the people who carry around
knives do not have trust in the police and think they're justified in doing
so. We can prevent this by giving them something to occupy themselves
and help educate them about the police and how they keep us safe. If
we do this, can have a very positive impact on our society.

Imagine what it would be like if we had a safer environment for
everyone.
