*****ATTENTION*****

Users updating their 8G devices from PDA-S version 2015.14 or earlier MUST verify their
current Access Point Broadcast Channel is not set to 10. It must be one of the recommended
channels outlined below. This is critical to optimize WiFi Connection Performance.

8G Devices Being Updated From PDA-S Version 2015.14 or Earlier

Starting with PDA-S version 2016.16, the user has the ability to adjust the Access Point (AP) broadcast channel used by
the WiFi subsystem. Referring to the WiFi Configuration Screen below (Figure 1), t he broadcast channel is shown in
parentheses on the button labeled ‘Refresh AP (##)’. After updating the 8G PDA-S software to version 2016.16, it is
necessary for the user to verify that the channel is set a recommended channel: 1, 6, or 11.

Optimizing WiFi Connection Performance

If you are experiencing WiFi connection issues while on the ‘Sensor’ screen or during data collection, it is
recommended that you change the broadcast channel to improve connectivity. WiFi connection issues include radios
taking an abnormally long period of time to connect and radios frequently disconnecting, where distance and/or
obstruction is not the issue. It should also be noted that WiFi congestion may vary from site to site; a channel that
performs well on one site may not perform well on another.

Refreshing WiFi Acess Point Channel

To reach the WiFi Configuration Screen, press the button labeled ‘Configure WiFi ’ on the PDA-S opening screen. If the
current channel shown in parentheses is set to ‘(10)’, press the ’Refresh AP’ button to configure the system to one of
the recommended channels. A status bar will appear while initiating the change , and disappear upon completion. The
channel shown should now be set to the one of the recommended channels described a bove.
