Duc Dao is the Head of Language Skills Division – Faculty of Foreign Languages at HUB. She
also works as a local trainer for Cambridge University Press. She earned her Ph.D. from the
University of Nottingham, UK and holds an MA from the University of Queensland, Australia.
Her research interests are teaching methodology, L2 pronunciation teaching and learning, and
teaching writing.

The presenter will first identify the differences between product and process oriented
approaches to teaching writing. The session will move on with a detailed description of the
steps involved in the writing process. The presenter will spend the rest of the time guiding
the participants through the planning of each step in a practical writing lesson.

IIn the process oriented approach, writing is defined as a set of interactive and recursive

activities (Alodwan & Ibnian, 2014) including planning, drafting, revising, editing, and

proofreading. This workshop will guide EFL teachers through the planning of the steps

involved in a process-based writing lesson in which learner potentials would be fostered
