Prelim Assignment 1 (EESD)

National Service Training Program 2

1. Find a picture on how the plastic pollution in the oceans affect the Marine wildlife.

2. Where do ocean plastics come from?

 Land-based activities such as urban and storm water runoff, sewage overflows, littering,
improper waste management, industrial operations, tyre abrasion, building, and illegal dumping
are the primary contributors of plastic debris detected in the ocean.

3. How can we prevent oceans from plastic pollution?

 You can stop the impact of plastic garbage on marine life in a number of different ways.
Roadside ditches, little streams, and rivers are where a large portion of the plastic that ends up
in the ocean starts. You may pick up garbage and roadside litter on your own or participate in a
local clean-up day as a volunteer. Another excellent choice is to be sure to send your plastic
waste to a recycling organization. Natural-fiber apparel and towels are an additional option.
