a) Explain the influence of sea level rise on geomorphic processes and the formulation

of rias

Geomorphic processes –weathering mass movement, erosion, transportation, and

deposition.

Rias- a coastal inlet formed by the partial submergence of an unglaciated river valley
that remains open to the sea have a tree-like outline. [8 marks]

The influence of sea level rise on geomorphic processes is huge as it can cause more
land to be submerged, which can cause extreme flooding and landslides. The sea
level rising can also lead to more coastal erosion inland as the water will break
further up the beaches and less erosion will occur as water depth has increased .This
means rias will be more likely to form due to sea level rise and existing rias will
increase in depth and may branch out further in a tree shape.

c)Explain witch geomorphic processes are the most influential in forming landform A
[8 marks]

The most influential process on forming arches is wreathing from the sea. The arch
begins as an outcrop of rock a small headland on a discordant coastline with and a
small crack forms from hydraulic action and water sits inside of the rock and expands
when freeze-thawing occurs then coastal weathering finds weak spots on the cliff
where abrasion attrition solution and hydraulic action erode the cliff face creating a
cave eventually this erodes into a arch which will eventually collapse once they're
isnt enough support to hold the arch up wich will then create a stack . Aolean
processes may also influence creation arches as sand can be blown across the rock
causing further erosion

D)” Human activity influences coastal landscape systems more than physical factors”
To what extent do you agree with this statement [16 marks]

Human activity influences – global warming ice caps melting ecosystems changing
Over fishing of oceans building marinas docks peirs and breakwaters to reclaim land.

Physical factors -erosion fetch of wave eave energy slope angle rock type and
geology.
Some human activitys such as
