Case Study of

Cloud Computing
By Parth Gabhane(1032190743)
What is Cloud Computing?

 Cloud computing is an abstraction of compute, storage, and network

infrastructure assembled as a platform on which applications and systems can
be deployed quickly and scaled on the fly.
 In simple words, Cloud Computing is nothing but means to provide computing
services like storage, databases, networking, etc. to remote Computers over
the internet.
 Cloud Computing is a cost effective, flexible and scalable alternative to
deploying On-Site Powerful Systems
Why Cloud Computing?

 Cloud Computing is cost-effective to start with and have lower maintenance

costs compared to a traditional system.
 Cloud applications improve collaboration by allowing groups of people to
quickly and easily share information in the cloud via shared storage.
 Cloud allows us to quickly and easily access store information anywhere,
anytime in the whole world, using an internet connection. An internet cloud
infrastructure increases organization productivity and efficiency by ensuring
that our data is always accessible.
 Cloud Computing is easily scalable as it provides the abilities to increase and
decrease resources at will.
Various Applications of Cloud
Computing

 Online Data Storage: Cloud Computing allows storage and access to data
like files, images, audio, and videos on the cloud storage.
 Big Data Analysis: One of the most important applications of cloud
computing is its role in extensive data analysis. The extremely large volume
of big data makes it impossible to store using traditional data management
systems.
 Testing and Development: Cloud computing applications provide the easiest
approach for testing and development of products. In traditional methods, such an
environment would be time-consuming, expensive due to the setting up of IT
resources and infrastructure, and needed manpower.
 Cloud Computing in Education: E-learning, online distance learning programs, and
student information portals are some of the key changes brought about by
applications of cloud computing in the education sector.
Case Study of STaaS

 What is STaaS?
STaaS or Storage-as-a-Service is a cloud service platform where companies
provide/rent their storage infrastructures to others.
 Why STaaS?
STaaS is a cost effective alternative to the companies that lack the ability or
funds to implement a traditional computing system. STaaS also enhances the
team collaboration because of the 24/7 Data Availability from Anywhere.
STaaS is also secure because the individual can choose to who he wants to
grant access to what data.
 Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Dropbox are some examples of STaaS
Case Study Examples: AWS

 Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a subsidiary of Amazon providing on-demand cloud

computing platforms and APIs to individuals, companies, and governments, on a
metered pay-as-you-go basis.
 Amazon Web Services (AWS) is the world’s most comprehensive and broadly adopted
cloud platform, offering over 175 fully-featured services from data centers globally.
 Millions of customers - including the fastest-growing startups, largest enterprises, and
leading government agencies - are using AWS to lower costs, become more agile, and
innovate faster.
 AWS is used by many big names like Netflix, Hotstar, BMW, etc.
Advantage of STaaS

 Cost Savings: The cloud allows you to trade capital expenses required for
traditional computing resources to ‘only pay for it as you consume it’.
 Deploy Globally in minutes: With the cloud, you can expand to new
geographic regions and deploy globally in minutes. AWS has infrastructure all
over the world, so you can deploy your application in multiple physical
locations with just a few clicks.
 Most secure: AWS is architected to be the most flexible and secure cloud computing
environment available today. Our core infrastructure is built to satisfy the security
requirements for the military, global banks, and other high-sensitivity organizations.
How AWS STaaS works?

 Storage as a service (STaaS) is a data storage business model where a

provider rents storage resources to a customer through a subscription.
 Customers are given access to some part of Amazon Web Services storage
infrastructure of the provider which can be accessed over the Internet.
 Customers only pays for the amount of Storage that is being used by them.
 Customers is given the ability to increase or decrease the amount of storage
that they need which allows scalability and also is much cheaper than
upgrading or downgrading the traditional systems.
