:Good morning(afternoon) everyone.

My name R_V and today i’m going to present and to try to explain to
you, the American Revolution and why it’s one of the most important
symbole of the United States of america.

2 : But first, let’s star with an anecdote.

In this famous painting of Percy Moran,we can see a woman with
children holding the first american flag with 13 stars. This very woman,
named Betsy Ross, is supposed to be the one who made the first
american flag.
And standing over there, is the well-known George Washington, the
first President of the USA, and the commander in chief of American
Army during the American Revolutionary war.

3 : before anything else, I need to be sure that you all understand the
difference between an important notion, between the American
Revolution and the American Revolutionary War.
So, The American revolutionary war is a part of the American revolution.
The American revolution began before the war with the British and
finished after it.
And also, at some point, I will speak of some Acts. In fact, Act is a
synonym of law. So, when I will speak of Acts, I would mean Laws.

4/5 : the contents :Firstly show you : context and causes

, Secondly describe briefly : the process and the main events
,thirdly present :consequences

6 : As I said, I will begin my presentation by explaining why the

revolution happenned.

7/8 : A war, the Seven Years’ War, just precede the American revolution.
In a nut shell, the war is considered as the first world war, because
there were fightings in several continents like in America, Asia, and of
course europe.
The alliance of Britain won, and like you can see France lost all its
territory in America, and Spain and britain took it.

9 : Here are the colonies of Britain in America before the revolution just
before the beginning of the revolution.
10:So, you remember that I said that Britain got huge teritories , but this
at an important cost of a lot of money.
Thus, Britain had a lot of debts.
Therefore, wanting to gain money, the British Parliament started to
impose taxations to the colonies whereas before, only the government of
those same colpnies could taxe them.
For example, the Stamp act was promulgated in 1765 (which is by the
way the date that historians think to be the beginning of the revolution.).
This act, required that many printed materials like legal documents,
newspaper, magazines, or even playing cards ; are produced on a
stamped paper with also a tax stamp.( which is obviously a form of
taxe)
Like you could probably guess, Americans were not that much happy
with this taxation, and rapidly protestations began to occure.
Of this , History, retained a main and very famous slogan : No taxation
without representation.
Because, indeed, American habitants hadn’t any sort of
representation in the Birtish Parliament, so being taxed by a this
Parliament where you are not represented was like being scolded by a
someone who isn’t of you’re family.

11 : In 1770, a crowd was threatening British troops and began to throw
projectiles like snow balls or stones. The troops got scared and shot.
Five citizens were killed and 6 injured. This event is remembered as the
Boston Massacre.

12. It’s important to know that there was a lot of taxe on the Tea in the
colonies, so independant merchant and smuggler made fortune by
selling the Tea to lower prices. Britain, having a lot of Tea in its stocks,
but unable to sell it in America due to those merchants ; promulgated the
tea Act. This act consisted in removing all the taxes only for the british
Tea so that Tea would be sold far cheaper than the other teas in
America. Therefore, the tea of Britain was easily sold but the other
merchants were ruined because of this.
In 1773, in the port of Boston, some members of The Sons of Liberty (a
group of protesters), put costumes of Indians and climbing secretly on
the ships coming from England and supposed to sell the tea, they spilt
all the goods of tea in the Sea.
13.One years after the Boston Tea Party, a series of repressive laws,
known as the intolerable acts, were promulgated. One of them, the
quartering Act, obliged the governemnt of Northern America colonies, to
provide foods and housing to British soldiers. Some American families
had, therefore, to accomodate british soldiers in their house.

Tension between colonies and the home country began therefore to

dangerously rise.

14.Now, I will now sum up very briefly(I mean like we can sum up
complex and long things) how the war took place.

15. In 1774, all the 13 colonies sent delegates to a meeting and in order
to discuss about Britain’s Laws. This was the first Continental congress.
They decided to boycott all goods coming from Britain until the
Parliament repeal all the Intolrable Acts and the Taxes ; and also to
make an alliance in case Britain attacks.

16. In 1776, the first battle against Britain began. At Lexington, American
troops shot for the first time :A poet declared afterwards that it was the
shots heard round the world. Britain won the battle of Lexington but The
American, getting more numerous in the ranks, won the battle of
Concord. The revolutionary war began.

17. The same year, on the 2nd of July, the Second Continental
Congress( the Union of American Colonies) declared independent from
Britain, and two days after, the Declaration of Independence(a text made
mainly by Thomas jefferson) was agreeded.
(origin of the national day)

18. Explain : war in the north (lost at New-York, failure of the invasion
of Quebec, captured one army and the other was blocked in New York)
Alliance with France, southern front, the losts but the victory and final
surrender.

19.After the surrender of the main army in the southern British front in
1781, the War ends with the treaty of Paris in 1783.

20 : I will now present you the main consequences of the

revolution :
• Creation of the USA
• Constitution of the USA
• George Washington become the 1st President of the USA
• World's First Federal Republic
• Beginning of the age of Revolution (with other revolutions
such as The French Revolution)

21. Conclusion:
So The French revolution is one of the most important symbol of France,
so the American Revolution is one of the most significant symbole of the
USA( if it’s not the most)

If I had more time (I mean if I was allow to speak longer, eventhough I

fear that I’ve already spoken too much)well, I would have explain with
more details the process of the War and maybe I would have presented
a battle with its map and the movement of the army)And perhaps, I
would have given the names of the some of the more famous paintings I
gave.
