Module 2 - Lesson 2
Activity 1: My Amazing Community Worksheet

Through the efforts of locals, parents, officials, and people who believed in
education, Barangay Old Buswang has remained the home of one of Aklan's prestigious
educational institutions. As a part of the school's foundation and a local, I believe it is
important to pass on the roots of my school here in the barangay we live in.
In 1979, Dr. Constancio 1. Constantino and former Governor Roberto Q. Garcia
issued Executive Order No. 22, s. To establish a provincial high school for notable pupils
in science and mathematics. Resolution 178, sec. Aklan Development High School
(ADHS) was established in 1979.

In school year 1980-81, the first batch of students were placed in Bagong Lipunan
Building of the Kalibo Pilot Elementary School temporarily. In the academic year 1981–
1982, the second and third year high school students were then moved to its temporary
location at the Provincial Capitol complex.

SP Resolution No. 58 s. was signed into law during the 1982-83 school year. To
better portray its Special Science Secondary Education Curriculum, Aklan Development
High School took the name Science Development High School of Aklan (SDHSA) in
1982. On December 23, 1982, MEC Minister Onofre D. Corpus signed the change of
name approval.

Soon after, the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved Resolution no. 039, s. 1991 to
establish a permanent school site in Barangay Old Buswang, Kalibo, Aklan. The school
followed up on account to the assistance of its PCTA and parents who believed in quality
education for children, as well as the officials who consistently aided the school's
endeavors and improvement.
Finally, in the 1999-2000 academic year, the school was renamed Regional
Science High academic. The school's history is well recognized, and the townspeople
cherish the school's pride and honor. As the school continues to operate, many residents
of Barangay Old Buswang have been able to contribute. Nonetheless, the school came to
fulfillment with a permanent location in Barangay Old Buswang, as success would have
been impossible without an optimal location.

Module 1 - Lesson 3

Activity 1
1. Who is the speaker in the poem?
- The father’s child is the speaker in the poem.
2. How did the writer effectively describe the situation in the poem?
- In order to describe the situation effectively in the poem, the writer used
figurative language, specifically simile and onomatopoeia, in describing the
feeling of sadness and grief for losing a loved one, by referencing it from the
storm that they’ve encountered.
3. What do you think is the meaning of the last stanza of the poem?
- I think it describes the sudden longing of the father for his wife that had already
passed when a storm with a similar name as his wife came. He described the heavy
feeling of grief like you were being hit through by a storm.
4. Does the translation affect your understanding of the poem? How? Explain
briefly.
- Yes, for I had trouble in understanding the original (bikol) version of the poem.
There were some words that I don’t know the meaning of.

Application: Agree or Disagree

“In my childhood,
the journey was a perilous one:
full of hardships, pains and tears.”

I do agree on the statement of this stanza, childhood is not really all about fun and
games, the presence of hardship and pain will always be there. Although it may sound
sad, those encounters may have taught us lessons that our future selves will find helpful,
and be a reason to be thankful of. But this is not a generalization that everything we had
experience in our childhood was meant to be looked back at to, or should be taken
positively as we grow up. This is because the level of hardship is different for everyone,
and it should not be invalidated no matter what.

Module 1 - lesson 4

A.
1. If you were an author, how are you going to contribute to the development of
regional literary traditions?
- If I were an author, I would contribute by publishing literary works, like poems
and novels, that correlates to the history and present of my region. I would also
join competitions to further enhance my skills in writing literary works and make
my region more known to more people.
2. What aspect of regional literary traditions do you want to develop in your
masterpiece?
- The aspect that I would pick is probably the geographical setting. By this, the
cultural background of our region will be known and shared to many.

B.
Right Choices

Knowledge is ought to be shared,

Culture is set to be practiced.
Traditions should be passed,
But beliefs should not be pushed.

There is no Freedom,
Trauma will be present,
Silence will be tolerated,
If history repeats itself.
