Instructions for Separating the Generator and Fuel Tank Assemblies

Subject: Lifting the Aggreko generator to separate the generator assembly from the fuel tank and skid.

Models Affected: MMG45IF4-AGGREKO-OFFSHORE

Required Tools: Adjustable wrenches, flat blade screwdriver, wire cutter, adjustable pliers

1. Unload/place the generator on a firm, stable surface. If necessary, drain the fuel tank completely before
moving to step 2.
2. If the generator is being removed from a trailer assembly, or was operated using the fuel tank assembly below
the generator, the following items must be disconnected, REFER to Figure 1:
• From the trailer: disconnect the trailer lighting harness at the plug coming from the generator.
• From the fuel tank: disconnect the hoses for the fuel tank vents (2), the fuel supply hose (1), the
fuel return hose (1), the fuel tank fill hose (1), the connector for the fuel lever sender (1), and the
connector for the fuel tank leak detection (1).

3. Remove the bolts, flat washers and nuts that secure the upper generator assembly to the lower fuel tank
assembly (6 places, 3 per side). Retain the hardware for reuse later, REFER to Figure 2.

4. Attach lifting device directly ONLY to the central lifting point on the top of the generator assembly – do not
attach any lifting equipment to any other parts. Carefully lift the generator assembly off the fuel tank
assembly. REFER to Figure 3.

NOTE: The generator assembly weighs approximately 1,950 lbs. (885 kg)! Make sure the lifting
equipment and any lifting slings, chains, or hooks attached to the generator are capable of
handing the weight safely.

5. Attach lifting eyes (5/8” shank diameter with a minimum load rating of 4,000 lbs. each) to the four holes
closest to the corners and secure them with a flat washer and nut. REFER to Figure 4
6. Attach any lifting slings, chains, or hooks to the four lifting eyes ONLY! Carefully lift the fuel tank
assembly.
NOTE: The fuel tank assembly weighs approximately 410 lbs. (186 kg)! Make sure the lifting equipment
and any lifting slings, chains, or hooks attached to the fuel tank assembly are capable of handing
the weight safely.

7. If the generator assembly will be reinstalled on the fuel tank assembly the four lifting eyes installed step 5
must be removed. Reassembly of the generator to the fuel tank is reverse of removal. Tighten all
mounting bolts and clamps completely before adding fuel to the fuel tank assembly.
