MUSIC
Contemporary Music refers to compositions that have adopted ideas and elements from 20th century art music in the west, as well as
the latest trends and musical styles in the entertainment industry.
Francisco Santiago is considered as the “Father of Philippine Kundiman.” Kundiman One of the famous contemporary songs written
by Francisco Santiago.
Nicanor Abelardo is one of the “Triumvirate of Filipino Composers” and notable for his compositions Mutya ng Pasig, Nasaan Ka
Irog, and Magbalik ka Hirang. He studied at University of the Philippines in 1917 and composed the school hymn “UP Beloved”. Ang
Unang Buko It is the first musical composition completed by Nicanor Abelardo at the age of eight.
Alfredo Buenaventura is a Filipino composer who combined the styles of romantic period and impressionist on his major
compositions. Dakilang Lahi is an example of contemporary music written by Antonio Buenaventura.
Felipe De Leon is known as nationalist composer and a founding member of the League of Filipino composer.
Lucio San Pedro is a notable Filipino composer who studied music under various musicians in the country and also in Julliard School
of Music in New York.
Ryan Cayabyab is known as Mr. C. and the executive and artistic director of San Miguel Foundation for the Performing
Arts. He based his compositions and musical styles on epics, legends, and local heroes.
Antonio Molina is considered as one of the triumvirates in Philippine music. Amihan is an example of chamber music written by
Antonio Molina.

ARTS
Photography is the art of creating durable images by recording light. It is the Greek word photos which means light and graphos
means writing. Camera is the device being used in photography.
Animation is the technique of photographing successive drawings or positions of puppets or models to create an illusion of movement
when the movie is shown as a sequence.
Advertising is one major field that still relies heavily on print media.
Film is another art form which has risen to tremendous heights within the last century. Documentary Films is a non-fiction genre,
were made using real-life footage as well as file materials, in many cases to present an issue.
Print Media includes large-scale publications such as newspapers, magazines, journals, books of all kinds, as well as smaller-scale
posters, brochures, flyers, menus, and the like.
Comics is another field of print media that highlights the artistic gifts of Filipinos.
Book Design is another extremely rich and promising area for young Filipino artists.
John K. Chua is an advertising and commercial photographer that applied his photo artistry to showcasing the beauty of

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Street Dance is performed in streets, dance parties, block parties, parks, right clubs and other available open spaces.
Hip-hop Dance is a cultural movement best known for its impact on music in the form of a musical genre of the same name. New
York is where hip-hop originated.Hip-hop Dance is a dance style performed in a hip-hop music and had evolved from a hip-hop
culture. Hip-Hop Dance refers to dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music genre and has evolved as part of hip-hop
culture.
B-boying is a style of street dance is commonly known as breakdance. B-boying is a popular element of hip-hop dance.
Breakdance includes full-body spins and body rotations that give the illusion of defying gravity.
Breakdance is frequently used to refer to the dance, b-boying, and breaking dance style.
Top Rock is a movement of footwork-oriented steps performed while standing up.
Down Rock is a movement of footwork performed with both hands and feet on the dance floor.
Popping is based on the technique of quickly contracting and relaxing muscles to cause a jerk in a dancer’s body.
Locking is a dance style is usually performed by stopping the fast movement of the body and locking into a position, holding it, and
continuing at the same speed as before. Locking was created by Don Campbellock Campbell in 1969 in Los Angeles, California
Krumping is a dance style is characterized by expressive, exaggerated, and highly energetic movement.

HEALTH
Global Health is an area for study, research, and practice that places priority on improving health and achieving equity in
health for all people worldwide.
World Health Organization(WHO) is responsible for developing leadership in health, setting norms and standards, and providing
health support among nations around the world.
Global Health Initiatives are programs and projects which help address global health issues, concerns and trends. It is a program or
strategy which addresses global health issues, concerns and trends.
Health Trend is any general tendency to change in health concepts, information, skills, and values.
Millenium Development Goals are the eight broad goals which reflected the major challenges facing human development globally.
The global alliance for vaccines and immunization aims to introduce new generation of licensed vaccines into
use in developing countries across the globe. These new vaccines includes Hepatitis B vaccine, Influenza vaccine and Yellow fever
vaccine .
One of the programs to Stop TB is the implementation of the TB-DOTS short-course strategy.
Cardiovascular disease is the disease of the heart and blood vessels.
Non- communicable disease is a disease that is not transmitted through direct or indirect contact and is non-infectious.
Communicable disease is a disease that is transmitted from one person to another by direct or indirect contact.
Tobacco control came into existence in reaction to the global epidemic of tobacco use and abuse.
