SEMI - DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN Grade 4

(Three States of Matter)

I. Objectives:
At the end of the 60-minute session, the students will able to:
a. Classify objects and materials as solid, liquid, and gas base on its
characteristics;
b. Describe the characteristics of solid liquid and gas.
c. Appreciate the importance of solid, liquid and gases to our environment.

II. Subject Matter:


Learning Competency: Classify objects and materials as solid, liquid, and gas
based on some observable characteristics;

Topic: States of Matter and their Characteristics of solids, liquids and gases.
Materials: picture, Cartolina, pentel pen, video

III. Procedure
A. Preparatory Activities

2. Motivation

Direction: The teacher will ask the following question to the student.
1. Do you have a notebook, pencil, and pen?
2. Do you drink water?
3. Do you feel the air when you exhale?
Sing the song entitled "3 Phases of Matter."
B. Lesson proper
1. Activity
The teacher will show the following picture. Let the students recognize
what is in the picture.

2. Analysis:
Ask the following question to the student
• What are your observations on the following picture?
• Can you describe each of them?
• Do you have this object in your home?

3. Abstraction:
The characteristic of matter
Solid
• Have definite or exact shape

• Occupies space
Liquid
• Doesn't have definite or exact shape
• Have definite or exact volume
• Ability to flow.
Gases
• Do not have definite mass volume or shape.
4. Application:
The teacher will group the class into 3 , every group will have different
activity to do.
Group 1 - Classify the object if it is solid, liquid or gas.

Solid Liquid Gas

Group 2- Draw one example of solid, liquid and gas.

Group 3- List at 3 example of solid, liquid and gas.

IV. Evaluation:
Classify the material where it belongs.
