SANDRA BULLOCK
At the age of five, Sandra Bullock made her stage debut in a German
opera. She later gained notoriety for her part in the 1994 smash
Speed. She went on to feature in numerous other movies and was
honored with an Academy Award and Golden Globe for her portrayal of
football player Michael Oher in the 2009 film The Blind Side. She
appeared in the critically acclaimed thriller Gravity in 2013 starring
George Clooney. Entertainment Weekly named her Entertainer of the
Year.
On July 26, 1964, in Arlington, Sandra Annette Bullock was born to a
German opera singer and a voice teacher. Bullock spent a lot of his
youth traveling. While traveling across Europe, she studied music and
dancing, and at the age of five, she appeared on stage in Germany's
Nuremberg for an opera in a minor role. She started performing
frequently in the Nuremberg children's chorus after the performance,
which encouraged her to fall in love with the stage. Bullock attended
Washington-Lee High School after her family relocated back to the
Washington, D.C. region when she was 12 years old. Bullock had no
trouble blending in and participated in school plays and cheerleading until
her graduation in 1982. Bullock then decided to pursue acting at East
Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina. She did, however,
graduate from college in 1986 with just three credits remaining before
leaving to pursue acting full-time in New York. She enrolled in acting
training at the Neighborhood Playhouse Theatre while also working as a
waitress and a bartender to support herself.
At the age of 21, Bullock received her first role in an off-Broadway
production of No Time Flat. Following a brief stint as Tess McGill on the
unsuccessful NBC sitcom Working Girl (based on the popular film of the
same name), Bullock co-starred in the romantic comedy Love Potion No.
9. (1992). In the futuristic Sylvester Stallone vehicle Demolition Man in
1993, Bullock took Lori Petty's place. However, critics largely panned
the movie as "incoherent" and "one-dimensional." She first became well-
known because of the 1994 box office sensation Speed. Bullock perform

in a constant stream of high-profile films with different levels of
commercial success in the middle of the 1990s. Bullock made a brief
comeback in early 2002 with Murder by Numbers. Bullock's two projects
in 2009 marked a return to her romantic-comedy roots. In the box
office smash The Proposal, Bullock played a tough-as-nails boss who
must wed her assistant, Ryan Reynolds, to prevent being deported. The
film made more than $300 million worldwide. Bullock experienced
professional success with the sports drama The Blind Side (2009).
Bullock received a Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best
Actress for the moving drama she starred in. Bullock spent some time
primarily stepping away from the Hollywood spotlight following the
triumph of The Blind Side. With the financial success of The Heat in 2013,
she had a spectacular comeback. The movie had a strong opening
weekend with more than $40 million in revenue, and it went on to gross
more than $220 million abroad. Bullock was selected Entertainment
Weekly's 2013 Entertainer of the Year thanks in part to her work in
Gravity and her co-starring role with McCarthy in The Heat. Because
of her performances in The Proposal and The Blind Side, she was again
voted Entertainer of the Year in 2009.
On July 16, 2005, Bullock wed Jesse James, the star of the television
series Monster Garage. After tabloids reported on his affair with
tattoo model Michelle McGee, the pair filed for divorce in June 2010.
Bullock made the announcement that she had adopted Laila from a
foster family in Louisiana in December 2015.
At least five times, she has given the "American Red Cross" a $1
million donation. She contributed the same sum to aid in the earthquake
relief operations in Haiti. She gave money to the Red Cross Relief fund
in 2017 when Hurricane Harvey hit Texas. For her charitable
contributions, she was honored in 2012 by being inducted into the
"Warren Easton Hall of Fame."
In addition to being nominated for two Academy Awards, one British
Academy Film Award, three Screen Actors Guild Awards and five Golden
04
Globe Awards, Sandra has garnered countless honors during her career.
She is one of the most famous actors in Hollywood. I really admire her
because she's persistent to find herself a great position in Hollywood.
Another reason is just because she looks so precious and gorgeous to
me.

do high test scores actually reflect
a persons potential?
This is a pretty common problem, isn't it? Many schools and companies
rate their employees based on the Academic transcript or school
report. But can a score accurately describe a person? Does it
accurately assess their potential? For me, it absolutely does not
reflect anything.
I just don't really get it. My mom always told me that having poor
grades would prevent me from succeeding and that truly infuriated me.
The point of having a high score, in my opinion, is that it allows you to
assess your knowledge and be comprehensive. It is just like a kind of
appearance that consolidates your knowledge of a topic. It does not
reflect any individual personality. For example, student A and student B
are studying in the same class. Student A is a math expert while student
B is a talented basketball player. One day, they both had a math exam
and student A had a higher score than student B. But then in the
basketball test, student B is more outstanding than student A. It shows
that grades can only measure what students actually do, it does not
test across a wide range of skills. You may be better than your friend in
literature and he/she may be better than you in sport.
Each of us are special and unique. Every single individual is good at
every single thing. Although tests are quite important, I believe that
they are not specific only ways to judge a person's true potential.
