The Problem
Introduction
Coconut shell products offer students the opportunity to learn about
sustainable materials, develop their creativity and entrepreneurial skills, and
contribute to a more eco-friendly world.It become a popular material for different
products and there are numerous benefits of coconut shells to students. These
benefits range from the use of coconut shells as eco-friendly products to their
contribution to education and research. In this information we will explore the
various benefits of coconut shell to a daily life of selected students in
Buhaynasapa National High School.
There are poems and studies tackles about coconut shell like A study by
Monteiro et al. (2015) It investigated the feasibility of using coconut shell particles
as a partial replacement for natural aggregates in concrete production. The study
found that coconut shell particles could be used as a sustainable and cost-
effective alternative to natural aggregates, leading to reductions in both
environmental impacts and material costs. The first benefit of coconut shell to
students is its use as an eco-friendly product. Coconut shells are widely used as


raw materials for handicrafts, furniture, home decors, and other products that
contribute to environmental sustainability. Furthermore, products made from
coconut shells can be easily disposed of and will not harm the environment. This
makes it a perfect material as it does not harm the environment and students get
to learn about the importance of being eco-friendly.Secondly, coconut shells offer
educational benefits to students. Science students can study the properties of the
coconut shell and the different materials that can be made out of it. Students can
also study the anatomy of the coconut shell and its different parts.
Moreover, it is a great educational tool as it provides students with the
opportunity to conduct experiments and research. In addition, coconut shells can
be a source of income for students.
Students can use their creativity to make different products from the
coconut shell, which can be sold or marketed to earn an income. This allows
students to develop their entrepreneurial and marketing skills, which are
essential for personal and professional growth. Another related literature is "The
Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" is a poem written by T.S. Eliot that explores the
feelings of alienation and social anxiety experienced by the titular character. The
coconut shell represents the barriers that Prufrock has built around himself, and
the loneliness and insecurity that come with being unable to break through them.
Another benefit of coconut shells to students is its medicinal properties. Coconut


shells have been found to have medicinal properties that can be used to cure
different ailments. Students in Health Science courses can study the different
medicinal properties of the coconut shell and how to use them in treatment.
In conclusion, the benefits of coconut shells to students are numerous.
These benefits range from the eco-friendliness of products made out of coconut
shells, to the educational and research possibilities, providing a budding industry,
and the medicinal properties. Hence, the incorporation of coconut shells in the
curriculum will enhance students' knowledge, benefit the environment and
contribute to research and development.

Significance of the Study
Coconut shells are a natural and renewable resource that have been used
for centuries for various purposes. In recent years, coconut shells have gained
popularity in the field of education as a tool for various innovative projects.
Coconut shells have several benefits for students that make them an excellent
material for enhancing learning in schools.
One of the most significant benefits of coconut shells for students is that
they are eco-friendly. With global warming and climate change as one of the
most pressing issues today, it has become essential to promote eco-friendly
alternatives. Coconut shells are a natural by-product that is sustainable,
affordable, and biodegradable. Using coconut shells in classrooms can create
eco-friendly educational opportunities and help reduce waste in our environment.
Another advantage of using coconut shells in education is that they can be
used in various creative projects to develop critical thinking and problem-solving
skills. Coconut shells are incredibly versatile and can be carved, painted, and
decorated in numerous ways. Students can transform these shells into artworks,
science experiments, and even musical instruments. Such learning activities not
only promote creativity but also stimulate intellectual curiosity and inventiveness
in students.


In conclusion, coconut shells offer a tremendous educational opportunity
for students. They are eco-friendly, versatile, and can be used in various
projects. Therefore, incorporating coconut shells in classroom learning activities
can create a natural, interactive, and fun-filled learning environment that
enhances the cognitive and personal growth of students.
Scope, Delimitations, and Limitations
The scope of this study is to know the benefits of coconut shell to a daily
life of students in Buhaynasapa National High School. This can also teach
students the importance of sustainability by using materials that are renewable
and do not harm the environment. The study is delimited only for 50 grade 9
selected students of Buhaynasapa National High School. The main purpose of
this study is to Encourage every students to use coconut shell to help our
environment to lessen plastics and to point the benefits of it as a students.
Definition of Terms
Coconut Shells. Coconut shell is the strongest part covered in coconut
fruit. Coconut shell is located in between the coconut flesh and coconut husk.
This shell is naturally created to protect the inner part of coconut. This is shell is
use to produce various handicraft applies and other applications. Most of
handmade decorative are created by using coconut shell due to their


strength.Coconut shells are also used to made charcoal which is use as fuel and
this coconut charcoals are far better than other charcoals. Coconut shell charcoal
is widely used to produce active carbon. Normally active carbon is known as the
charcoal which has treated with oxygen’s. Active carbon is use widely for
removing impurities. This coconut shell charcoals are widely used in purification
industry and other industries which active carbon are used.
Most of South Asian and Pacific countries where coconut grows create
various handicrafts out of coconut shells. The strong form of this shell is ideal to
create handicrafts and these handicrafts keep for longer time period due to the
strength of coconut shell. There is a huge demand for these types of natural
handicraft in all over the world. There is various method uses to produce active
carbon and coconut shell produce the top grade active carbon charcoal which got
great performances. There are lots of coconut shells need to produce 1 kg of
active carbon but the charcoal created from coconut shell are much clean and
good in quality compare to other charcoals productions. Coconut shell based
active carbon production got great demand due to its high quality and there are
various plants produce this active carbon from coconut shell in Sri Lanka, India
and other Pacific countries where the coconut trees are available.
Eco-friendly. Eco-friendly literally means earth-friendly or not harmful to
the environment.This term most commonly refers to products that contribute to


green living or practices that help conserve resources like water and energy.
Eco-friendly products also prevent contributions to air, water and land pollution.
You can engage in eco-friendly habits or practices by being more conscious of
how you use resources.
Sustainability. Sustainability means meeting our own needs without
compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. In
addition to natural resources, we also need social and economic resources.
Sustainability is not just environmentalism. Embedded in most definitions of
sustainability we also find concerns for social equity and economic development.
Contribution. Contribution is the amount of earnings remaining after all
direct costs have been subtracted from revenue. This remainder is the
amount available to pay for any fixed costs that a business incurs during a
reporting period. Any excess of contribution over fixed costs equals the profit
earned.
Creativity. the ability to make or otherwise bring into existence something
new, whether a new solution to a problem, a new method or device, or a new
artistic object or form. The ability to transcend traditional ideas, rules, patterns,
relationships, or the like, and to create meaningful new ideas, forms, methods,
interpretations, etc.; originality, progressiveness, or imagination.


Opportunity. A good chance for advancement or progress. situation that
makes it possible to do something that you want to do or have to do, or
the possibility of doing something. Opportunity is defined as the total number of
chances for a defect. To expand, an opportunity is an area in a process, service,
product, or another system where there is the possibility for there to be a defect.
Skills. The ability, coming from one's knowledge, practice, aptitude, etc.,
to do something well. Competent excellence in performance expertness
dexterity. A craft, trade, or job requiring manual dexterity or special training in
which a person has competence and experience.
Development. Development is a process that creates growth, progress,
positive change or the addition of physical, economic, environmental, social and
demographic components. The word ‘development’ is widely used to refer to a
specified state of advancement or growth. It could also be used to describe a
new and advanced idea or product; or an event that constitutes a new stage
under changing circumstances.
