new world, and helping them grow the confidence to practice those skills. With so much
information readily available to them, 21st century skills focus more on making sense of that

The term 21st century skills refers to a broad set of knowledge, skills, work habits, and
character traits that are believed—by educators, school reformers, college professors,
employers, and others—to be critically important to success in today’s world, particularly in
collegiate programs and contemporary careers and workplaces. Generally speaking, 21st
century skills can be applied in all academic subject areas, and in all educational, career, and
civic settings throughout a student’s life.

Answer:
Based on the diagram above, Twenty-first century learning skills play in K to 12
Curriculum to developing learning, literacy and life skills as part of the classroom
experience. Learning skills encompass critical thinking, creativity, collaboration and
communication, which have been identified as essential for successfully adapting to modern
work environments.
 As a teacher, how can you use this information to maximize learning?
Answer:

Be extremely encouraging. Sometimes students who appear lazy are actually

discouraged or frustrated that they are having trouble learning. Our words can be extremely
powerful in inspiring them, but more importantly, we can encourage them by giving them one-
on-one help and showing them that they can indeed do the work and be successful.
