1 SUMMARY
The Internet of things (IoT) is the internetworking of physical devices, vehicles, buildings, and
other items embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity that
enable these objects to collect and exchange data. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a recent
communication paradigm that envisions near future, in which the objects of everyday life will be
equipped with microcontrollers, transceivers for digital communication, and suitable protocol stacks
that will make them able to communicate with one another and with the users, becoming an integral
part of the internet.
This project Smart Anti-Theft Car Tracker by using IOT is a very innovative system which
will help to keep our vehicle safe. The real-time tracking information on valuable things and assets
could solve many problems in the world. GPS is the Global Positioning System which provides the
location, using off-line and on-line both in any atmospheric conditions. There are several types of GPS
tracking system available in the market line GPS tracking system, GPRS based tracking, SMS-based
tracking, Android phone-based GPS tracking applications etc. The GPS-based off-line tracking and
alert system works off-line without using the Internet. When the GPS in a device is on the GPS
satellites broadcast the signals and GPS receivers uses the signals and provides the latitude, longitude,
and altitude information along with the time. A Variety of location tracking devices can be used e.g.
Mobile phones, GPS devices, GPS watches etc. With the help of middle-ware services, it retrieves the
location data of the device and upload it to the cloud database and keeps on updating the location
automatically within defined interval of time.

2 DETAILED PROPOSAL OF PROJECT

(a) Literature Review

Literature Review (Minimum 20 papers/journal/conference/IEEE/ScienceDirect/ SCOPUS etc. please refer

to online library)
Internet of things (IoT) is a new technique that provides interconnection of objects using networks such
as 5G network. In this technique, the objects (things) can cooperate with each other and can also
communicate with the users [1]. IoT has several applications such as interaction between vehicles,
tracking vehicle system, navigation, accident detection, smart parking, traffic control security and
safety [2-3]. Two steps are used to design this structure. The first one is implementing the system to
provide vehicle tracking in real time. Then, a design mechanism is designed to detect theft and notify
user of theft [4-5]. GPS-GSM integrated public transportation management systems consist of four
modules such as bus station, in bus, base station and bus stop module. The developed system is useful
for facilitating people using public transportation services Communication between the system and
children will be solved by children having tag that transmit information to the bus unit making it
possible for system and driver to know the child is on the way to the bus. This system is useful for
handling safe route planning school bus position tracking and monitoring [6]. Vehicle tracking system
is real time system which is working on the GPS and GSM technology which provide the location of
vehicle to the vehicle owner in the case of vehicle is stolen. It can also be used in wildlife tracking,
asset tracking and in stolen vehicle recovery [7]. GPS real time vehicle alarm monitoring and alerting
system used GPRS and CSD on the embedded system. Compared with the conventional single mode of
GPRS, this method makes up the disadvantage of the high time delay and the incertitude of the time
delay in data transmission Transportation is a very important shared resource that enabling efficient and
effective use of resources like GSM modem and GPS unit that can be installed on a vehicle and used to
track its location. This system is located on the bus and GSM modem communicates via SMS with a
server connected to a basic GSM phone [8]. The vehicle tracking system is an electronic device that
tracks the vehicle’s location. Most of the tracking systems use GPS module to locate the vehicle’s
position [9]. Many systems also combine communication components such as satellite transmitters to
communicate the vehicle’s location to a remote user [10]. In this system neural network is used to
process uncorrected raw signals received by GPS receiver. A neural network having an input receiving
the satellite related information to obtain an output signal representative of receiver related navigation
information, where in the neural network comprises one of the adaptive learning for the error reduction
and optimum calculation. This system improves the average accuracy of GPS signal reception at the
bus station. (Internet of Things (IoT) is a network of Internet connected devices (electrical) able to
interchange data between them using sensors and actuators. IoT device is any type of electrical Internet
connected device/s that can be monitored and/or controlled through Internet from anywhere (remote
location). IoT ecosystems is all the components that enable consumers, governments and businesses
to connect with their IoT devices, including remotes, networks, dashboards, gateways, storage,
analytics, and security. Entity are Mainly including the users of IoT system such as consumers,
governments, and businesses etc. The Physical layer are the physical components (hardware) that
makes an Internet of Things (IoT) device which includes sensors, actuators and networking gear.
The Network layer is The main duty of network layer is transmitting the data collected from physical
layer to IoT devices. The Application layer are All the protocols and interfaces used by the
connected devices for identification and communication. The dashboard is used for visualizing the
information about the Internet of Things ecosystem. It also used for controlling the IoT ecosystem. It
acts as a special type of remote control for IoT. Analytics is Software systems that analyze the data
generated by IoT connected devices. The analysis can be used for a different purpose, such as
predictive maintenance. The cloud storage/data bucket, where data from IoT devices are stored
temporary or permanently . The Networks are The Internet communication layer that enables the
entity to communicate with their embedded devices and enables devices to communicate with each
other)(11-14). Unauthorized access of any valuable devices/properties can be prevented by using
Anti-Theft Tracking System. Ramadan and Al-Kheder in [15] presented a prototype design of a
vehicle tracking and anti-theft system for protecting a vehicle from any intruder by using
GPRS/GSM technology. Some other embedded system or Arduino microcontroller-based vehicle
tracking system are presented in [16–20].

(b) Research Questions

Example; (give 1 or 2 questions)

What is the efficiency of the Smart Car-Anti Theft (stolen car tracker)?

What is the benefit of this project?

(c) Problem Statement

There are a lot of vehicle theft cases in Malaysia as measured by claims between 2013-2018 which is
around 11496 cases recorded, if not recovered soon, the number of stolen will increase rapidly. Stolen
vehicle is generally sold, modify for illegal race, or even burns if the resale price is considered low.
Once vehicle has been stolen, the chances to locate and track it again very low. But in this new modern
technology era, there is a device that can track or locate the stolen car that using the old system in the
market.

The rate of school bus and van accident in Malaysia is very high and have been alarming to parent at
the thought of young children losing their lives. Using school busses involves handing over children to
persons who parents trust will deliver them to school. With the high number of children using school
busses, there is always needed to track them. Tracking the vehicle will at least relieve parents mind and
can make sure their children is attending to school safely. There is need for an integrated system for
school, and parents to automatically track the movement of vehicle in real time. This system would
help to reduce pressure of the parent and school administration about their children and student safety
who is attend school via school buses.
