PROJECT PROPOSAL
MPRD213
Project Duration
There are a lot of vehicle theft cases in Malaysia as measured by claims between 2013-2018 which is
around 11496 cases recorded, if not recovered soon, the number of stolen will increase rapidly. Stolen
vehicle is generally sold, modify for illegal race, or even burns if the resale price is considered low.
Once vehicle has been stolen, the chances to locate and track it again very low. But in this new modern
technology era, there is a device that can track or locate the stolen car that using the old system in the
market.
The rate of school bus and van accident in Malaysia is very high and have been alarming to parent at
the thought of young children losing their lives. Using school busses involves handing over children to
persons who parents trust will deliver them to school. With the high number of children using school
busses, there is always needed to track them. Tracking the vehicle will at least relieve parents mind and
can make sure their children is attending to school safely. There is need for an integrated system for
school, and parents to automatically track the movement of vehicle in real time. This system would
help to reduce pressure of the parent and school administration about their children and student safety
who is attend school via school buses.
This project area is considered to help students in understanding and evaluate the sustainability and
impact of engineering technician work in the solution of well-defined engineering problems in societal
and environmental contexts
(e) Methodology
Research methodology
(please explain a little bit of your methodology that the project would use
(Research methodology is the explanation of a process for step by step to fulfill the requirement of the project)
This section will be explained the methodology of project. This section presents the general block
diagram and flowchart of this project. Besides, this section also presents the project prototype by
sketching. Stolen car tracker Car By using IOT involved the combination of hardware. Electronic and
the software part that require integration of the system between them. So, to accomplish this project, the
framework activity of the project is shown in Table 1.1, Figure 1.1, and Figure 1.2. These flowcharts
make the process of this project goes smoothly in timely manner and knows the priority task that need
to be done in sequence. Roughly, this project will begin with the hardware part which is the casing of
the system, fabrication, and assembly. Finally, the software part which is Arduino programming will be
program to get the coordinate of the vehicle.
Figure 1.1 shows the block diagram of the project. This project has three inputs which are GPS
Module, Camera and Temperature sensor. Then for the process on this project has esp8266 as the brain
for this system. this system will observe and track the vehicle and find out vehicle position., the GPS
receiver will send the coordinate to thinger Io. The coordinate will send to Thinger Io from GPS
module. The output for this project is to get the real time positioning of vehicle and the camera
detection. When the vehicle is stolen, the location data from tracking system can be used to find the
location. Figure 1.2 shows that system architecture of Stolen Car Tracker By using IOT.
As shown in Figure 1.3the project start with from the GPS receiver. The system will on 24
hours inside the vehicle, when the vehicle stolen, the GPS system triggered and will get the coordinate
from satellite and the data will send to server which is Thinger IO. In thinger IO, the data will display
the google maps coordinate for real time positioning of vehicle. Temperature and camera can be
analyzing during the car stolen by theft.
