BARRIERS SOLUTION
I do not have time Prioritize activities and cut back some time from the non-essential activities to be able to
exercise
I am always tired Make a physical activity diary and analyse which part of the day you have more energy and
schedule your work-out around that period
I do not know how Read journals and articles on the best practices as well as ask people who have been
successful at adopting the healthy behaviour
I do not have enough money There are numerous exercise regimens that are not expensive such as running and
swimming
I do not feel support Inform family and friends about the new behaviour or join an activity club that has the same
interests
I am not motivated Create a list of pros and cons of the positive behaviour that will serve as a reminder;
Focus on changing the behaviour instead of the outcome and write a SMART goal
I lack willpower Identify what triggers the backslide and be conscious when it happens; implement a reward
system
I easily get discouraged Avoid negative self-talk and replace them with encouraging words
Regular, moderate to high intensity of physical activity, and exercise was proven to improve overall health and fitness. As such, it:
ACTIVITY

QUARTER 1: WEEK 4
SEPTEMBER 14 – 17, 2020
Aerobic Exercise – Involve large muscle group (e.g. thighs) that perform rhythmic and continuous movement for a prolonged period of
time in order to improve aerobic capacity.
Running is one of the best aerobic exercises that require minimal training and equipment
These changes help the body adapt to the increased demands by allowing more oxygen and nutrients to the exercising muscle. Here is
an illustration of a heart where the biggest changes happens where it is able to eject more blood at every beat as a result of an
increase in the size of the left ventricle chamber.
The muscle that covers the left ventricle of the heart becomes thicker due to aerobic training.
1. Waste carrying, oxygen-poor blood enters the right atrium from the superior and inferior vena cava
2. From the right atrium into the right ventricle: from there it is pumped through the pulmonary arteries into the
lungs.
3. In the lungs, blood picks up oxygen and discards carbon dioxide; it then flows through the pulmonary veins into
the left atrium
4. Oxygen-rich blood flows from the left atrium into the left ventricle: from there it is pumped through the aorta
into the rest of the body’s blood vessels.
WEEKLY ASSESSMENT
I want you to draw the blood flow from start to finish. Make sure to know where you should start and where you should end. You have
your guide on the first page.
