HISTORY OF THE PHILIPPINE FLAG

 General Emilio Aguinaldo conceived a new flag during the second phase of the Philippine
Revolution.
 It took five days to complete the flag, which was handed over to Aguinaldo before he returned to
the Philippines.
 The flag received its baptism of fire and blood during a battle with Spanish forces on May 28,
1898.
 On June 12, 1898, the flag was unfurled at the Aguinaldo Mansion in Kawit, Cavite, symbolizing
the proclamation of Philippine independence.
 Under American rule, displaying the flag was prohibited until 1919 when it was allowed on
"Philippine Flag Day."
