Pathway Program Offered - Open Studies


2023 Fall Term (September) Application Deadline: April 01, 2023

 IELTS overall 6.5 (no lower 5.5 in each section)


 Students will take and PASS the pre-requisite subjects needed to get admitted to nursing
program for 2024 Fall Term:
o English 30-1 [60% - 90% required passing grade]
o Math 30-1 or 30-2 [60% - 90% required passing grade]
o Biology 30 [60% - 90% required passing grade]
o Chemistry 30 [60% - 90% required passing grade]
*Aim for 90%+ to be competitive for Nursing

 To get Early Admission for Fall 2024 - Must receive a competitive average of ~90-95% on the
top two group A courses, should be completed by December 31, 2023
* Top two ‘group A courses’ – to be given after application
* 2024 Fall Term (September) Application Deadline: February 1, 2024

 may take upgrading courses alone or in combination with university-level courses, to a


maximum of five courses per semester
 are allowed to earn a maximum of 30 credits (typically 10-three credit courses) in Open Studies
and/or the University Entrance Option (Any awarded grade (including F) will count towards the
limitation but withdrawals do not.).
 are not eligible to receive a Letter of Permission to take a course or courses from other
institutions.
 do not have access to restricted courses (i.e., those reserved for program students).

There is no limit to the number of non-credit academic upgrading courses you may complete.
Students who wish to upgrade their high school courses may enroll in various credit-free high school equivalency
courses offered at Mount Royal. While these courses are not eligible for Alberta Education graduation credits or
transcript purposes, they are accepted as alternative entrance requirements for undergraduate programs offered
by Mount Royal and other Alberta universities.

Notes: Acceptance into the Nursing Pathway Program does not guarantee admission into the B.N.
program.
