CHAPTER 3
RESULTS
This chapter presents the result of the study. The obtained data were analyzed
and interpreted. The implications of the result are explained in line with the purpose of
the study.
The Level of Financial Literacy of Grade 12 Students in Pantukan National High
School
Table 1 displays the independent variable which is the extent of Financial
Lietracy of Grade 12 Students in Pantukan National High School having two indicators
which is the Financial Knowledge and Awareness.
The results show the overall mean taken by the two indicators. Financial Literacy
obtained a mean of 3.81 with a standard deviation of .589 which the description is high.
Moreover, statement number 3 stated that they understand how to manage their
borrowed money when there’s something they want to buy proved that financial
knowledge has a highest mean score of 4.06 followed by statement number 2 stated
that they can prepare their weekly/monthly budget, with the second highest mean score
of 3.79. Statement number 2 stated that they discuss budgeting matters with their
parents or guardian and obtaining a mean score of 3.75 followed by statement number
4 stated that they have difficulty in managing their money or allowance which has a
mean score of 3.62. While the Awareness obtained a mean of 3.79 with a standard
deviation of .723 which the description is high. Statement number 2 stated that before
they buy something they carefully consider whether they can afford it and attaining a
mean score of 4.09 followed by statement number 4 stated that they set aside money in
advance for the things they want to buy and resulted a mean score of 3.92. Statement
number 1 stated that they pay their bills, payments or debts on time and gained a mean
score of 3.73 while statement number 3 stated that they keep a record of their
expenses and has a mean score of 3.42.
The data revealed that Financial Knowledge have the highest mean score of 3.80
this means that the financial literacy is expressed by the students in majority of cases
and Awareness has the lowest mean score which is 3.79 this implies that the financial
literacy is manifested in majority of cases.

The Level of Awareness of Grade 12 Students in Pantukan National High School
Table 2 displays the dependent variable which is The Level of Awareness of
Grade 12 Students in Pantukan National High School having three indicators which is
the Personal Needs, Academic Purposes, and Transportation.
The results show the overall mean taken by the three indicators. Personal Needs
obtained a mean of 3.75 with a standard deviation of .687 which the description is high.
Moreover, statement number 1 stated that they compare prices before they spend
money on food and clothes proved that awareness has a highest mean score of 4.03
followed by statement number 4 stated that they usually buy clothes on sale, with the
second highest mean score of 3.78. Statement number 2 stated that they created a
weekly budget for food expenses and obtaining a mean score of 3.77. followed by
statement number 3 stated that they ask for discount when buying necessities and
groceries which has a mean score of 3.43. While the Academic Purposes obtained a
mean of 3.72 with a standard deviation of .838 which the description is high. Statement
number 1 stated that they compare prices before they buy school supplies and attaining
a mean score of 3.93 followed by statement number 4 stated that they spend money on
mobile data load for school purposes and resulted a mean score of 3.86. Statement
number 2 stated that they spend a large percentage of their money on photocopies and
printing of school works and gained a mean score of 3.81 while statement number 3
stated that they spend money on computer shops when doing their school requirements
and has a mean score of 3.27. And lastly, Transportation obtained a mean of 3.64 with
a standard deviation of .847 which the description is high. Statement number 4 stated
that they love to travel and see new places and attaining a mean score of 4.16 followed
by statement number 3 stated that they take a walk with their classmates when school
is done and resulted a mean score of 3.69. Statement number 1 stated that they use
public transportation in going to school and gained a mean score of 3.61 while
statement number 2 stated that they take a walk when going to school and has a mean
score of 3.09.
The data revealed that Personal Needs has the highest mean score of 3.75 this
means that the spending habits is manifested by the students in majority of cases.
Academic Purposes has the second highest mean score which is 3.72 this implies that
the spending habits is manifested in majority of cases. And lastly, Transportation has
the lowest mean score of 3.64 this means that the spending habits is manifested by the
students in majority of cases.

Significant relationship between Financial Literacy and Spending Habits of Grade
12 Students in Pantukan National High School
Table 3 shows the result on the significant relationship between the Financial
Literacy and Spending Habits of Grade 12 Student in Pantukan National High School.
The independent variable which is the Financial Literacy obtained a mean of 3.80 while
the dependent variable which is the Spending Habits obtained a mean of 3.70.
The computed R-value is .598 with a probability value of .000 tested at 0.05 level
of significance. The null hypothesis which stated that there is no significant relationship
between the independent variable and dependent variable is hereby rejected.
This means that there is a significant relationship between the two variables
presented in the study. Statistically, there is concrete evidence to prove that the two
indicators which is the Financial Knowledge and Awareness affects the Spending Habits
of Grade 12 Students.
