Title: The lie of Hopes Peak Academy

Background:
We live in a society where the goal of every parent is having a child, for them to become the
best at something. If their kids succeed in this task, they can receive the “ultimate” title,
which means they’re the best of the best and have the privilege to assist Hopes Peak
Academy, one of the world's greatest schools located in Japan. What the children don't know
is that, that school is a government lab where they use children to do their work, using virtual
reality as their homework system to create false scenarios to complete like if it was a video
game. The so-called school counts with lots of restriction, but the most important ones
are :have perfect grades, obey the rules, you can't go outside or use internet, and the most
important one, if you fail one of the rules you get expelled and your ultimate will be
available again. Most kids hope to enter this school because they know they’ll have their life
complete. However, this year lots of students have been expelled from the school, but
students started to freak out after not having contact with their friends. What would happen if
someone found out the truth?

Story:
We live in a society where money is everything, so everyone hopes to have a child talented in
a specific thing for them to assist Hopes Peak Academy, one of the world's greatest schools
located in Japan. There's a say that says everyone who enters that school has their life to
solve. Even though it's really easy to be good at something, being the best at something
worldwide is hard. If for some reason you manage to be that good, there are some restrictions
and rules you have to follow to enter the school and some that you have to follow when
you’re at it. You have to be 8 to enter and 20 to leave the school, have perfect grades, no
internet or going outside, and the most important one. If you disobey one of these rules, you'll
be expelled and your ultimate will be available again. It hasn't been a year when one or two
students have been expelled, so the school implemented a student council group to prevent
this. Sadly, as years passed by, lots of students have been expelled from fifteen groups. One
of them is my group, one of the most affected, we started with sixteen students. Eighth years
have passed since I enter this school, and now my class is conformed by only six students.

However, let's change the topic a bit and allow me to present myself. My names, Hikaru
Tachibana. I come from a middle class family and, as long as I remember, my parents always
wanted me to achieve something. After a lot of effort, I managed to become the ultimate
mathematician at the age of 8 and enter Hopes Peak. When I first enter I was nervous, I didn't
know everyone, but they had interesting talents. Some of them were: The ultimate mechanic
(Kazuichi soda), Pianist (Kaede Akamatsu), Artist (Martina Rosales), Designer (Nagito
Komaeda), and the most fascinating one, the ultimate detective(Shuichi Saihara). Now that I
think about it, those ultimates are the only ones left in my class.
As years passed by, I got used to the same routine. First I wake up, shower and change to my
uniform. Then, I go to the dinning room and chat with my friends, more specifically shuichi.
After that, I go to the 77 class (my class) where we do exercise and different activities in
Virtual reality till lunch break. Then we go back to class till nighttime and we go to sleep. I
always wondered what would happen if we explore the school at night, and I think today is
the day when my curiosity is put on test for the first time ever.

Coincidentally, yesterday, the ultimate pianist was expelled after lowering her grades. Kaede
was an excellent friend, but all the class wanted to say a proper goodbye, and we decide to
sneak on the so call “final door”; that’s the last time a student has a foot on school grounds.
However, what we found was horrible, but more than that, it was heartbreaking and hopeless.
We found her dead body hanging over a giant piano, we thought the worst, ‘cause all day
long her favorite melody was being played on the school speakers. Everyone was shocked,
nobody moved or said something about it, the only thing you could hear was sobbing and
crying. But at that moment we knew two things; one, that now we knew what happens after
being “expelled”, and two, we were in danger. What if they found out we were there?, What
would happen to us?, What are we supposed to do?…

Then a voice raised, it was the ultimate detective's voice, shuichi Saihara, he had become my
best friend and at that moment he acted like the leader we needed. He told us what to do at
the moment, and even if we didn't want to leave her side and escape, we knew it wasn't
possible. We’d be killed at the moment we put one foot outside the school ground. So we
went back to our dorms as quiet as possible to not alert any guards or a surveillance camera
that had move motion, thanks Kazuichi for inventing them. That day I knew two things;
firstly, I was traumatized for life, and secondly, I was going to escape with everyone no
matter what or who tried to stop me. But even if I'm strong enough to create a hopeful future
for everyone, I’m still scared and confuse of what could happen tomorrow. After hours of
trying to sleep, I couldn’t sleep a bit, so I did what a normal teenager would do, I went to my
besties' dorm (aka Shuichis dorm), he’s the only one I can trust no matter what. We were
kinda uncomfortable at first, so we tried to express out everything that was on our minds. We
don't know when did we fall sleep.

The next day, it was worse than we thought. Lots of guards and some student council
members were on our class for two things. Firstly, ‘cause they found a paint stain near the
final door last night, and secondly, ‘cause it was surprise exam time. But they reminded us a
very important thing, “There’s a student council member in each group”, that hit us one more
time, one of us was a traitor, but who??. But we didn't have time to think about that, when we
look up again, the guards were taking Martina to interrogate her, ‘cause she’s the only one
with access to the school’s art tools, we knew she wasn't coming back, but we had to act like
we didn't know anything. I can talk for everyone saying we were scared, we wanted to run,
but we knew if we failed that test, we would have that destiny. So we put our VR on and
started our exam, surprisingly I had the same exam as Shuichi, our objective was to solve the
murder case of a young entrepreneur. Oh wait, I didn’t explain the exam system, sorry for
that, so let me explain; the exams, unlike the homework, can be made in teams or in pairs, but
that is something you don't get to decide. I remember one time I had to do one exam with
someone of the younger class; after you finish your exam, your score will be shown in your
VR screen.

After the exam, we discovered something horrible. Our classmates failed their exams, and
were being taken away even though they were begging to stay in our class, I was in complete
shock the only thing I could do was cry in Shuichi’s arms. We were only two people left on a
single classroom, WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO!!??.Shuichi as always, calmed me
and ask me to investigate with him a way to escape, of course I said yes and suggested
investigating on the student council room ‘cause there’s a computer we could use. At night,
we sneaked into the students' council room, and tried to open the computer, but it needed a
password. We tried with almost a thousand combinations, but nothing worked, until I
recommended that we put the name of the computers' company “SAIKOU”, and surprisingly
it worked. Rapid enough, Shuichi opened google and search for the school. Turns out we’d
been living in one of the biggest laboratories in all the world where children are put to do
adults work with the future reward of having an amazing future.

What are we supposed to do now!?, how are we going to escape this, we are only two….
Wait, we’re two. The students council members are immune to the punishments because they
work for the school. How did she know there was a computer here, how did she found out the
password so quickly?, what she didn't wanted me to see the home screen?. I’m supposed to
be the ultimate detective, I should’ve already known the truth, I just need to do one thing to
know if my deductions are true, I need to know if my best friend, my agape, is the traitor.
Scared enough, I closed the internet browser and confirm everything. The home screen
showed all the student council members and their families, she was there with the Enoshimas,
one of the families that controls the world. “WHY DID YOU DO THIS, WHY TO ME!!,
after all we passed together, was I just a puppet for you!?” I screamed at her with all my
anger, I couldn’t stand up, the only thing I could do was cry on the floor and wait for my
destiny. She was smiling at me, and hugged me really tight. “Come with me Shuichi, rule
with me in this new world, everything I did was for you my king. No one has to know about
this if you promise to never leave me and stay by my side till we die”, she whispered softly in
my ear. My mind was having a battle, a part of me wanted to reject her, she killed lots of
people, more specifically my friends, but the other part of me wanted to go with her, she's my
everything, I love her more than anything. I know this is what she wants, she wants me like a
doll you can play with, but I’m already trapped in her arms. I’m sorry guys…..

Furthermore, I end up accepting her proposal and decided to graduate school with her. We
become world leaders after all. I went to Hopes Peak to find a hope to follow, and I found it.
Even if it isn’t real hope for everyone. She became my hope for life. That one person brings
me so many things to believe that she pushes me in a buckle of full despair. I wonder what
would’ve happened if I said no, but it’s too late for me, I’m already at her feet.
