I live in an area where war is visible, and audible.

The
Mindanao islands are comprised of different cultural minorities
with different stands. While making this essay, I was struck with
ideas about the Marawi Siege as well as the unending wars of the
PNP/AFP against the NPA. In the CARAGA region, they are the group
that fights for their freedom. We do have some groups in other
places like in the BARMM, there are groups that fight like the
MILF and the MNLF. They are being misinterpreted because they are
different from others, the same with the lumads of CARAGA.
Knowledge had always been a challenge for us because we only
judge the present where we see wars; we do not validate those
with what our history has to offer. Just like in the Mindanao,
Sulu, and Palawan (MINSUPALA). They were disturbed by the
colonizers. Houses were burnt and big chunks of land was stolen
from them… Reasons why the lumads are away from modernizations
because they do not want to interact with the negative ruling of
the nation back then. It became my obligation to know the roots
of these wars, not because I support them, but for me to
understand a certain aspect. I should also learn its causes.
