Read the text about online learning. Match the sentences (1–10) with the sections of the text

(A–F). You can use each letter more than once. (10)
We should never stop learning, but it would be very difficult to go back to the classroom because of my job.
Online education is great for people like me who want to do a university degree but can’t stop working. We
can study in our own time. If you’re dedicated and organised, it’s just the same, or even better, than
traditional courses. I graduate next year and I would definitely do it all again.
Adam, Oxford
B
In modern society, time has become more valuable than anything else, and I believe that’s the main
advantage of studying online. No more need to fight traffic, leave work early for class or miss important
personal arrangements. You can organise your own schedule to fit everything in from the comfort of your
home. I would definitely recommend having a separate part of the house as your study area, so that you
make sure nothing takes your mind off your studies during your course time.
Linda, Edinburgh
C
Online courses usually have lower fees, which means that education can reach more people, especially
those who have to work to pay for their studies. I believe students should still come to campus to sit their
exams, though. There is a high risk of students cheating if they can do exams from home.
Jack, London
D
I’m sure learning from home would work for some people, but not for me. I tried it once and just couldn’t
concentrate, and I ended up dropping out after the first year. There were too many distractions: TV, internet,
friends. It’s definitely only suitable for courses in higher education, and even so for responsible and
determined students.
Zoey, Manchester
E
I think it can work, but only in addition to face-to-face learning, not instead of it. It’s true that there is more
material online, and that the teachers’ feedback is usually more detailed than on paper, but the relationships
you build with the teachers and your colleagues is one of the most important parts of any educational
experience.
Laetitia, Lille
F
I live in another country and could never afford to do a course at the university I wanted if they didn’t offer
courses online. I’m starting my course next month, and I really hope to have a positive experience. English
isn’t my first language, and I think it’ll be very helpful to be able to watch the lectures as many times as I
need and take my time with the coursework.
