The paper "A Systematic Study of the Outcome of Child Abuse in Long-Term Care"

examines the long-term effects of child abuse on children who have been institutionalized.

The authors looked at 14 research that evaluated how child maltreatment affected kids who

were in long-term foster care or residential care, among other settings. The results indicate

that children who have suffered abuse and neglect have worse outcomes than children who

have not, including more excellent rates of behavioural issues, social connection issues, and

mental health issues.

This is a well-researched article that emphasizes the multiple studies that demonstrated how

child abuse had affected the long-term life of the victims. Participants in the primary studies

included 3,856 abuse survivors and 1,577 nonabused controls. (Carr et al., 2018)

One of the main points of the article is the different ways in which child abuse is reflected in

each setting, demonstrated in studies from a variety of countries, such as the U.S,

Switzerland, Australia and more, which contributed to the overall understanding of the effects

of child abuse not only in a local setting but also in a worldwide perspective.

The author highlights the importance of active research and evaluation in order to improve

outcomes for children who have suffered abuse and neglect while being cared for in

long-term facilities, which is a topic that many people ignore or tend not to care about.
The article highlights the importance of providing effective support services, such as

counselling, therapy, and education in pursuit of better results for victims of abuse and

neglect in long-term facilities,

In conclusion, The article highlights the need for extensive support services to improve

outcomes for children who have experienced abuse and violence. It is important for the

general publuc to be aware of the long-term risk of children abuse and how badly it affects

their daily lives. Specially to the Canadian public in relationship with the case of the child

abuse in the residencial schools, which has highly shocked the entire country in the past few

years.
