What is academic journal?

An academic or scholarly journal is a periodical publication in which scholarship relating to a particular

academic discipline is published. Academic journals serve as permanent and transparent forums for the
presentation, scrutiny, and discussion of research. They are usually peer-reviewed or refereed.[1] Content
typically takes the form of articles presenting original research, review articles, and book reviews. The
purpose of an academic journal, according to Henry Oldenburg (the first editor of Philosophical
Transactions of the Royal Society), is to give researchers a venue to "impart their knowledge to one another,
and contribute what they can to the Grand design of improving natural knowledge, and perfecting all
Philosophical Arts, and Sciences."[2]

The term academic journal applies to scholarly publications in all fields; this article discusses the aspects
common to all academic field journals. Scientific journals and journals of the quantitative social sciences
vary in form and function from journals of the humanities and qualitative social sciences; their specific
aspects are separately discussed.

The first academic journal was Journal des sçavans (January 1665), followed soon after by Philosophical
Transactions of the Royal Society (March 1665), and Mémoires de l'Académie des Sciences (1666). The first
fully peer-reviewed journal was Medical Essays and Observations (1733).

2. Guidelines on paper search:

a. Paper must be related to this subject on any MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM SUB
TOPIC.
b. The academic journal must be published between 2021 until 2023.
c. The tittle of academic journal does not include the word “Review”, “Summary”, “Literature”
and “Expert Review”.

3. Extends your reading on the academic journal that you have chosen;
a. What is the problem statement?
b. What is the objective of the research?
c. What is the solution purpose by the researcher?
d. How those the solution work?
e. What is your critics and opinion?
ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES

1. Student are required to write a complete report on the given tasks.

2. Print the original paper from the journal. Highlight the importance information. Attach the journal
with the review.
3. Minimum pages for the report is 5 and maximum is 15.
4. Format of the report as follow:
a. Font type = Arial
b. Font size = 11
c. Paragraph = 1.5 spacing
5. Cover page = Light green (students MUST FOLLOW the template attached)
6. Any plagiarism detected will affect ZERO MARKS.
7. Assignment need to be submitted before or on the deadline, if not, penalized 10% of marks will be
deducted.
8. This Assignment will be accumulate to 15% of your carry marks.
