1.3. Criticize on research title and reporting format
The title of the article is “The changing nature of managerial skills, mindsets and roles:
Advancing theory and relevancy for contemporary managers”. This title contains the fewest
possible words that adequately describe the contents and/or purpose of the research paper.
Therefore, this article is explicit and transparent. Besides this article has clear case area scope.
The title of the article is very clear and short which can capture and reflect the content of the
proposal and it enable the readers to understand the concepts of the study. The reporting format
of the article also comprehensive i.e. which includes all important topic of every study.
1.4. Criticize on Quality of Abstract
The research objective and the article's main finding were the only topics covered in the abstract.
As a result, the article's authors were able to discuss the research design, research methodology,
sample design, and techniques of data analysis. According to what I understand, this abstract can
provide complete documentation for the article. This is so that readers who don't have enough
time to read an entire article may still get a broad idea of what the full content is about.

1.5. Introduction part of the study

This article argued that, numerous studies have shown that a special mix of different skills and
personality traits is necessary for hierarchical success, which refers to work advancement or
upward promotion, rather than just topic knowledge alone. The researcher discusses the obstacles
and limitations specific to this field of research in the theoretical framework, such as managerial
skills, mindsets and roles by inferring the advancing theory and relevancy for contemporary
managers. Under this section research, the researcher should give preliminary explanation and
background on the subject and the need for undertaking the study. The researcher offer a shift in
perspective that contends that personally motivated responsibilities and desires are having an
impact on the applicability of traditional employment standards. The findings show that
individual goals, rather than conformity to the current organizationally based theoretical
taxonomy as taught by many business schools, have a greater influence on how managerial
responsibilities are interpreted and applied. Accordingly, the researcher could discuss about the
definition and importance of managerial skill and its role. Up on my personal understanding,
under the introduction part of the study the reader should get some know how about the research
under studied but the researcher couldn’t able to do this.

1.6. Criticize on problem statement

Up on my opinion, the problem statement should attract the interest of the reader and establish a
persuasive context for what follows and its primary purpose is to persuade the reader that the
research project is a valid one. Unfortunately this study has no any separate problem statement
part of the study. Therefore, the researcher could not able to discuss the real problems
asymmetric information and investment decision in detail. Not only that but also the researcher
could not able to say something about the research gap which makes the studied research be
different from the previous conducted a research. The general and specific objectives of the
study are not available on this study. This article has no any scope/delimitation of the study i.e.
have no any time, variable or case area scope. It lacks clarity on the matter of when and where
the research was conducted.

1.7. Evaluation of Literature review

To frankly speaking, I really surprised on the way of writing literature part of this article. On the
literature part of the study, the researcher tries to describe both theoretical literature and
empirical studies which are related to the topic of this article. On this article literature review,
managerial performance requirements, that is, the skills, roles, and characteristics that are
required of managers and how this knowledge is disseminated . Besides to that this article
discussed distinctions in the job content, strategies, personalities, attributes, philosophies, and
execution capability required by each of the generally accepted managerial levels: top managers,
middle managers, first-line managers, and team leader. This article may be helpful to review
several relevant studies and present the study's conceptual framework. In my perspective,
this work falls short of giving a comprehensive description and explanation of
measurement for research variable. Additionally, the sources cited on this page are out of
date. The researchers would love to have access to current secondary data sources.
1.8. Research Methodology
For this article, the researchers believe that there are three main sequential steps in this
investigation. This study examines how 259 executives from nine industries and 200 firms assess
the use of managerial skills, mindsets, and positions. First, a thorough literature analysis of job
functions and competencies dating back to the early 1800s was undertaken. This was followed
by a review of the top US management text books utilized by either undergraduate or MBA
students. Second, rather than looking into new role classifications to supplement already well-
established conceptions and taxonomies, they were more interested in examining how the
respondents reacted to the definitions of the traditional managerial roles. In addition to that, they
hypothesized that managers may have varying attitudes regarding responsibilities and
requirements that Mintzberg was unable to discern through his method of limited work
observation and intuitive data collapsing of approximately 1,258 items. milar. A semi-structured
field interview methodology was used as part of the approach, which looked into three key areas:
17 management positions. Unfortunately, this article did no say something about article’s
research design, research approach, sources and types of data, econometric model specification
and method of data analysis. I think this article was conducted by merely reviewing different
empirical and theoretical literature from previous scholars and theory.

That is why the researcher did not incorporate those important issues in his article. For this
article, the researcher adopted assets valuation models for asymmetric information and trading
non-financial assets on the commodity exchange. The scholar says that, adaptation of models is
dependent on the type of contract that concerns the transaction: spot, forward, futures.
1.9. Criticize on discussion of results
This study was discovered that the five managing skills—interpersonal, technical, diagnostic,
conceptual, and political—belong to a different domain than the five mindsets and managerial
functions. The shifting realities of organizational life, job positions, and human motives that have
long influenced traditional theoretical thinking have presented challenges to management
research. The foundations of the traditional frameworks for management performance standards
have generally been organizationally driven. These findings highlight the discrepancy between
the enormous amount of time and energy invested by academics and educators in taxonomic
accuracy and its dubious connection to organizational and individual learning and effectiveness.
We discuss the theoretical and practical implications of these findings and offer suggestions for
future research. we know, the study's findings must be validated by prior theory or research for
each and every conclusion to be regarded as reliable. On the other hand, the researcher explicitly
discusses and addresses the primary objective of the abstract. Discussion of the study's results is
justified in a straightforward manner and is consistent with prior findings or hypotheses. Up on
my understanding, all objectives of the study are answered by the article’s finding and it is in line
with research topic.
1.10. Conclusion and recommendation
In a number of ways, this study stands out among the countless investigations on managerial
work. The empirical method, which demonstrated intriguing role clustering and construct
domain separation, is particularly intriguing. Apart from its further expansion in identifying
several managerial activities, the original research mostly lacked an empirical approach, and the
latter studies did not considerably increase understanding of the utility or relevance of the
taxonomy. First, according to Mintzberg and related scholars, the organization is the main force
behind the implementation of certain responsibilities. Despite the fact that we agree on the
positions' origins, our study indicated that the relevance of these jobs had a minimal effect on the
great majority of the managers we looked at. They advise academics and researchers to
emphasize the individual as the main force behind the relevance of contemporary and practical

roles. In order to practice management and achieve career self-sufficiency, new managerial
frameworks and skill sets of the future must be developed. On the other hand, the researchers
suggest that business school curricula more closely reflect the requisite criteria for managerial
roles as determined by practicing players.
1.11. General strength and weakness of the article
From my understanding, this research topic is very contemporary and an important topic for all
business organization. The scholars of this article clearly discussed about different theories of
cost management practice. This article truly review the related the literature specifically the
empirical review of the study. It could able show the determination of sample of the study with
tangible reasons. Expected sign of each independent variable are predetermined and supported
by previous research. Finally, this article has could forward researchers’ recommendations for
different stakeholders i.e. policy makers and managers. Those all things are the strength of
studied article. Contrast to the strength of the article, there are some weakness of the studied
article. This article did not say something about the scope and delimitation of the study. Besides,
the research study cannot able to identify the benefits and beneficiaries of the study. This article
has limitation on clear description and clarification of measurement for each dependent and
independent variables.
Not only is that, but also some references are outdated. It would be better if the researchers could
able to use recent source of secondary data. Besides, I couldn’t found any evidence about
classical linear regression models assumptions.

1.12. Criticize on referencing style

As we know referencing style is a standardized way of referencing your sources in the text and in
the reference list. My impression is that the author of this abstract used the Harvard referencing
style. Using the Harvard reference style, a brief citation to a source is given in parentheses inside
the text of an article, and -comprehensive citations are compiled under the heading "List of
References" at the conclusion. Another name for this style is "author-date." Additionally, the
reference style is consistent throughout this essay from beginning to conclusion. One of the
articles strengths is this one.

1.13. Contribution of this article

According to the findings of this study, some widely used managerial typologies that were
developed about long years ago may need to be changed from having a solely organizationally
driven job focus to one that more accurately reflects modern managerial priorities. This offers a
crucial chance for researchers, educators, and practitioners to reexamine the complex interaction
between organizational and human demands and to develop more applicable management
learning methodologies. A deeper comprehension of role relevancy and its implementation
would benefit both business school pedagogy and theoretical research, which are at odds with
one another and would both better serve students and organizations.
