installed or removed. Installation implied unless
otherwise noted with a symbol.
(CAT® Yellow) Description of parts.
(Yellow) Components placed aside for access, but

not removed. Highlighted areas of adjustment,
inspection, or special attention.
(Cyan) Special tools or other equipment required

for use in a particular step.
(Light Gray) Components used for reference.
(Magenta) Any fastener, retainer, or electrical

connector used to install or remove the primary
component.
Graphic Symbol Description
This section includes all the symbol graphics used throughout the Visual Service Procedure (VSP), along with a brief

Discard, Do Not Reuse - To cast aside as useless or

undesirable in approved and responsible manner.
Finger Tighten - To apply tension or torque with

1. Go to SMSIi at the following address
https://sims.cat.com/sims/simsi/index.jsp
2. Click "Service Reporting" on the top menu.
3. Click "Report Service" on the left side menu.
4. Refer to the illustration above Steps through .
5. Enter the information for the dealership in the "Service Report Common Info" section. Then follow the steps below for
the rest of the fields.
a. Fields "A" and "B" - Date the kit was installed
b. Field "C" - Serial number of the truck the COF kit is being installed on
c. Field "D" - Select "No"
d. Field "E" - Truck hour meter reading at installation
e. Field "F" - 500-2614
f. Field "G" - 1
g. Field "H" - SI (Component installed)
h. Field "I" - 526-0099
i. Field "J" - Engine serial number the COF kit is being installed on
j. Field "K,L" - Leave blank
k. Field "M" - Check the box for "Non-failure service (informational)"
l. Field "N" - COF installation
6. After all the information has been added, click "Add Record" at the bottom of the screen.
7. After the record has been added successfully, there will be a confirmation message. Click "OK".
8. Confirm that the record was added successfully by completing the steps below.
a. Click "Sales & Service" on the top menu.
b. Click "Sales & Service by Serial Number" on the left menu.
c. In the "Sales & Service by Serial Number" screen, enter the serial number of the machine in the "Serial Number"
field.
d. Click "Search" on the bottom of the screen.

e. The record that was added should be displayed in the "Service History".
