JORGE MARIO PEDRO VARGAS LLOSA

Mario Vargas Llosa was born on March 28, 1936 in Arequipa, Peru.

He married Julia Urquidi, his maternal uncle's sister-in-law, in 1955 at the age of 19 and she

was 10 years older.

He is a Peruvian novelist, journalist, essayist and former politician, who also holds Spanish

citizenship.

Vargas Llosa studied law and literature at the University of San Marcos.

In 1990, he was an unsuccessful candidate for president of Peru.

He has received many awards for his talent.

In 2010, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature.

His novels include comedies, murder mysteries, historical novels, and political thrillers.

His first novel was “The City and the dogs”, it was published in 1963 and filmed in Spanish in

1965. It was very acclaimed and translated into more than a dozen languages, this novel was

filmed at the Leoncio Prado Military School.

Another novel was “Pantaleón and the Visitors”, it was published in 1973 and filmed in

Spanish in 1975. It was well known for people.

Mario Vargas Llosa has written many books and they are an important legacy for society.
